Ah, so they can still be right off our beaches because no other state allows them while they say "we might do something in the future"

So frick the rec guy, the power boats seem to line the politicians pockets better

So we're supposed to take the fall for habitat loss and pogey boats??

You literally said a few lines up that pogey boats are one of the two levers that can be pulled. Hardly overused or baseless.

Two things can be true at the same time. We need tighter pogie boat regs AND rec fishermen regs. That’s very clear

Yes, it is. Ignorant too.
If you don’t like regulations then make specific arguments against them. Good luck because I haven’t heard a good one yet outside of economic impact. It’s the “wah wah wah what about…..pogie boats” deflection that’s getting stale.

Just curious, what are you doing to help with the pogie boat situation? Many of the people supporting the new regs are actively against pogie boats (social media posts don’t count).

Here it is again, lol. I’m not even sure if you can use your brain at this point

quote:

What a silly, reductionistic way to frame this. How about “what can I do, within my power, to make this place better”?

quote:

How much does Omega pay you?

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, lol. You make this too easy, man. Really, it’s hilarious at this point. Go dive into the research, turn off Facebook, do a little thinking (if you are capable) then come back and contribute with something useful (and hopefully beyond 2nd grade thinking).

Edit: Here is another thought. Dropping the rec angler limit actually gives us more ammo in our fight against the pogie boats. There is a lot of support against them and it’s likely just a few politicians in LA that are keeping them safe. Ive heard it’s a federally subsidized industry so the feds are ready to drop them as well. I have friends who are pushing the new regs who have also spent years going to the meetings in opposition of the pogie boats.

Even if we completely removed them for Louisiana we would still have a significant problem with redfish. It wouldn’t help near as much as you are implying. And before you ask, I’ve reached out to multiple people to to come up with a gameplan to frick the pogie boat industry. I’ll be using some resources im a part of to do everything I can to make that happen. My brains just big enough to go against them and have some self awareness to know I need to make personal changes as well.

One does something, the other doesn’t do squat.

Davis pond hasn’t done shite for lafitte except boost the bass fishing. That was sold as a land builder, except every time I go to lafitte I see less and less of it.

10% of our 42 fish yesterday morning wouldn’t have made the new length. No idea how wl&f to I’ll handle under sized fish going forward, previously they would give a % of total before ticket.

I was trying to figure out if he was from Omega or Daybrook. Probably one of the high dollar bagmen they use to drop off their tithe to the members of the legislature they’ve bought.

Well, this is an outright lie.

Explain the incredible amount of fish caught this year if things are so dire….

That's your rebuttal? Support your earlier statement. That's right, you can't because you made it up.

I have a stupid question. So the limit for big lake has been 15 for awhile. Anybody who fishes out there can chime in on if that has helped?

No one can tell you for sure. We would need a control to test that.
If it’s better that doesn’t necessarily mean it worked and if it’s worse that doesn’t necessarily mean it didn’t work.

Feedback from locals is pretty much unanimous that it has declined since the change. Extremely declined since they allowed the oyster dredging. That in addition to insanely increased traffic in the ship channel, and dredging the ship channel. Big Lake is nowhere near what it was even 10-15 years ago.

Can’t quantify the question without the biologists numbers. From listening to them, we would have arrived at the current point much faster. You also can’t quantify how much the environmental factors have played.
We all know there has to be a correlation between loss of habitat and the decrease but will never be able to determine the %.

So four out of forty two wouldn’t keep?

You’re complaining about catching forty two?

Never said that, I had 4 that wouldn’t keep on 11/20 so do the math. We/I fish 98% out of state anglers who have zero idea what the limit is. I could tell them it’s 10/person and they would be fine. Believe it or not but out of state guys are receptive of their guide asking them to Self Regulate. La anglers usually want to make a MEAT HAUL, their words. Dropping the limits will hopefully help with the ME TOO between the guides.

A 12 inch trout is pretty small. Do they come with one filet or two.

And yet bowfishing for redfish is still legal in Louisiana.
