Thanks King, at least this thread proves we can agree on something.

If you're asking about me...speak the truth.

Kidding, I stated an opinion (and played devil's advocate) in a thread that is better left far far away from this board.

More importantly what you said in this thread was spot on and was very quote worthy.

a Remmy 700 chambered for 30-06 is the way to go.

I quoted you too. Congrats!

You have an excellent point though. A model 700 is the perfect starting rifle for a hunter. It's very accurate out the box and aftermarket parts are numerous.

I'd stick with the most common 3 deer calibers - 30-06, 270, 308 - and you'll be knocking em down in no time.

Not to take the thread too off topic; just to let you know, I enjoyed the right to own guns discussion with you in a previous thread.

Keep up the fight, gun advocates are going to need a voice of reason in the future.

Ruger Amerian rifle .270 or 30-06. Gun sells for around $350-$400. You can't go wrong

I feel people who represent the gun community have to do it with courtesy and respect. Any fallacies immediately throw the train off the tracks. The two most overused ones are ad hominem (name calling) and slippery slope (anti-gunners LOVE this one).

Hopefully I gave you some insight and you were just playing devil's advocate to keep things rolling.

I'll just say the point that I was getting at was taken way out of context by a few in that thread and it got way out of hand.

I think it's always fun to jump out of one's comfort zone and challenge different ideas.

Nonetheless, your post were of quality. I'll leave it at that and say thanks.

Back to the thread!

Rem. 700 .30-06 is the answer. Seriously, it's what I have and I can't complain one bit. It serves every purpose with simplicity and pin-point accuracy.

P.S. I apologize for the detours.
