Currently in a 2011 Sierra. Recently had to put almost 2k into it for several oil leaks. Have been shopping around as of late on a new one. Does anyone have an idea what people payed for the AT4s precovid? Currently, the best price I’ve found is MSRP around mid 50s.
I’ve been putting off a new truck for a bit due to the inflated prices. I’m just thinking it would be prudent to pull the trigger on one before I start having more major issues with mine.

Thanks for the help!!!

I bought a fully loaded SLT in 2019 for $44k. Transmission went out 6 months ago at 100k miles and I bought a Ford.

I just bought an AT4, I pitted a couple of dealers against each other through text message. Got almost $15 off MSRP and what I wanted for my trade. Deals are out there and can be made. I used Autotrader to find the exact model I wanted and was lucky two dealers had the same truck down to the color and MSRP.

I’d imagine you can find deals on any truck right now, trouble may be the interest rate. If you decide to go with the AT4 I would just stay away from baby Duramax if that was an option.

Why is that? I really was considering that engine. Appreciate the responses. I planned on paying cash, but still want best price

Why? We have half a dozen 2021 sierra 3.0 duramax trucks in our work fleet and they’ve been flawless, all over 100k, 2 I think have 200k. We’ve done nothing other than regular maintenance on them. And we put pretty hard miles on them.

The 3 people I know that have them are all trying to dump them. One was successful, the other 2 people have pending lawsuits against GM. And that is with the “updated” engine.

One has to go in every 1k miles for an oil consumption test. He took his truck on vacation and went over the “1k mile interval between checks,” and they invalidated all previous data. Made him start the test over.

That’s not good. Guess I’ll have to do a little more research. Really had my heart set on that babymax. Gonna be my commuter and heard great things about fuel economy

My 3.0 Duramax had been great through 37,000. It’s a 2022. Everyone I know that has one (5 others) loves it.

My buddy who bought an AT4X at the same time just had to have his 6.2 replaced with less than 30,000 miles on it.

If anything, the baby Duramax is what you want.

Apparently that’s the sentiment until you join one of the baby Dmax FB groups lol. Without having the ability to delete the engine I don’t think I would ever get one. I had considered the Ram Eco-diesel until it got to where you couldn’t delete them. Then they went and added a second EGR.

Was your buddy’s 6.2 a lifter issue still? I really think Ford screwed the pooch with their cylinder deactivation. Long term tests will tell I guess.

1st gen I believe. I think they went to 2nd gen in 2023.

Thankfully I’m not a member of them or I might start looking for problems that aren’t there.

He never told me but I am guessing that’s what it was since those engines are notorious for that.

It’s only been 11 months, but i have 30k troublefree miles on my ‘23 LZ0 Duramax.

I’m in a lot of these FB groups where they show lots of problems. But i gave seen polls where a majority of the people in the group don’t have problems.

But my general observation, these trucks are not made to be driven every day in a metro area. Needs to be driven long miles, let the engine warm up, allow the def regen cycle to work properly. This pretty much goes for all modern diesels.

If it makes you feel any better, the truck comes with a 100k drivetrain warranty, you could find a dealership that offers “lifetime”.Emissions warranty is 80k miles.

I have heard nothing but good things about a 3.0.

The 5.3 and 6.2 have been ruined by the AFM. I hope Ford did not ruin the 5.0 with their B.S.

Why pay more per gallon for fuel when the towing capacity is no better than a 1/2 ton w/ gas engine?

I have a 2022 with the 6.2 with 25k miles. Great motor and pulls my boat well. Lots of power when you want to play. Average 16.5 mpg driving local and 11.5 pulling boat. Buddy has the 3.0 duramax. If I had to do it over today I’d get the 3.0 Duramax for the mileage pulling my boat. Overall you can’t go wrong with either one.

Frick a Dodge! Been there and got rid of that garbage within 6 months.

What are the lawsuits about? What issues are your friends having with their 3.0's? How many miles do they have on them? Why is your friend having to go get oil consumption tests at the 1000 mile mark?
