I am taking his side on this? Why the hell do you care? As long as he shoots deer on his land?

What’s going to Happen is you are going to start a stupid feud like all you damn rednecks do over stupid shite like this and then you are going to to shot a monster deer and miraculously it will die on his property, he will claim it, then you shot each other. (I have done this case 3 times since stand your ground)

Look at it this way, what if me and my rich lawyer buddies bought 5000 acres and completely surrounded your -150 acres and put in 20,000 thousand dollars of feeders etc and let you know in no uncertain terms you are not allowed to even look at out property. I just don’t understand you guys anymore. A good neighbor is worth 10 deer

Best thing to do is hide some cameras facing the property line, his blind/feeders, and even where you suspect he'll shoot the deer on yours. If his story doesn't match up, or anything happen to the cameras, then call the Wildlife And Fisheries.

I hunted a lease in Cotulla Texas years ago . Dude had about 100 acres across the line at a fence. his feeder was at the fence. The bottom of one leg was under the fence. His stand was 150 yards away facing the fence and feeder.
We dumped a lot of deer and pig carcasses there until he moved it.
Another guy had the same thing with a guy that owned 80 acres in the middle of his property. He had legal access to the 80. my friend tried to talk to him about buck management but he and his family just shot the hell out of it. My friend high fenced him in .
Don’t know how that turned out. Hope no injuries or fatalities.

Be a good neighbor, but put up a camera to confirm hes not shooting on your property......he has obviously done that in the past. Do tell him its all good, but that he shouldnt be shooting into your land.

I don’t care how many he shoots on his land. The woods and under brush on his property is so thick he only has a very small shooting lane on his side of the fence.

You guys have convinced me he is going to sit in that nice fiberglass blind and watch deer on my property all day and never take a shot. He is a hunter after all and all are such good neighbors.

He probably lives in a subdivision where he would never dream of leaving his garbage can on a property line or going two weeks without mowing the grass but when he gets to the “country” common courtesy is not something he needs to worry about.

I am going to solve it and I am not going to fight or argue with the guy.

I guess you have never shot a deer on his 10 acres or the previous owners 10 acres. This sounds like a fricking episode from Yellowstone.

Depending on what parish you in there are laws about how close to a property line you can put up a stand or blind.

West Feliciana

quote:

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to assume a stationary hunting position or place a permanent or mobile hunting stand or any type of shooting location or position, whether fixed, portable or mobile, for purposes of the shooting or hunting of deer or turkey, any closer than 50 yards to the boundary of adjoining property or any closer than 100 yards to any residence or inhabited dwelling situated on adjoining property; provided, however, that under no circumstances shall the distance be any less than 50 yards from the adjoining property line.

West Feliciana is 50 yards
but
East Feliciana is 25 yards if I am not mistaken.

Do you really think the neighbor is going to hold off shooting a deer that is ten feet into the 150 acres. Hell no, he will shoot everything that he can. Otherwise why put your blind in a spot where you are limiting your shooting ability. Everything he sees will be shot.

Put cameras up and catch him. Then go from there.

What State? In Mississippi feeders have to be a minimum of 300 feet from property lines. Blinds can be anywhere on the property.

Yes, that’s what people that don’t poach deer do. A lot of y’all seem to have trouble understanding that or wrapping your head around the idea that you don’t have to shoot a deer.

I would just ask him to move the deer feeder off the property line. If I was him I would try to line up the longest shot I could take on my 10 acres so that might mean putting the back of my blind close to the property line. But his feeder is in a bad spot.

install barbed to a height he can't easily cross, and put spacers in each section so he can't spread it to pass thru. Post signs facing his side of the line just as a reminder.

I don't think there's anything you can really do to prevent it beyond being a good neighbor. These type of things often end with a dog getting shot, etc. People get stupid.

But if you don't have a fence, that's a good place to start.
