Check and see what the parish ordinance is on that. Locally we have an ordinance that a person must be 50 yards from the property line and if the property line is a creek, it has to be 100 yards from center line of the creek.

This was established to prevent people from being too tempted to shoot across the line. You can shoot anything on your side or put your feeder anywhere, just can’t have a stationary hunting position within that distance

The argument goes both ways. You don't get special treatment b/c you have more acreage than him. I can see why it would be aggravating... you're probably of the mindset "he's killing MY deer". But they aren't yours

The woods are so thick with brush on his property that he can't shoot into it.

well chances are his 10 acres are holing a lot of the deer you are seeing on your thin clear view property.

he's just shooting "his deer" before they wander onto your property.

I don't get all the guys that think the woods is the best place to hunt...I have no problem with the timber companies clear cutting on our 1200 acre lease...after it comes back up in a year and is all thick and nasty .. I will find the the nearest tree line and hunt the edge of that clearcut.

This. I'm not sure why the OP wants to start shite with his neighbor especially considering he said he doesn't even deer hunt much anymore. Seems like added unnecessary stress

What happens when his "friendly neighbor" trips and falls on OP's property and sues him?
Also, we all know why anyone sets a stand up on a property line. To take advantage of your neighbor, plain and simple.

This simply doesn't happen. Besides, there may be immunity statutes. La. has one.

The responses in support of the OP are surprising to me. And further proof I wouldn’t want to be in the same room with most the mfers that post on the OB.

It's cool man.

I let exactly one OB poster come out to the range and shoot, and two weeks later he tried to invite himself back with a group to shoot that he was "instructing".

ETA: I love that, 12 pages in, everyone is ignoring the post where the gravity feeder is so close to the property line that for animals to eat out of one side they have to be ON the OPs property.

I had to back out of this thread. It was making me irrationally angry and I started to figure that most of the posts were trolling the OP because of his political beliefs.

I just hate a trespasser and someone who takes advantage of other people.

Bingo.

When I personally go into the woods a few miles to my old stand rather than right behind the house, it is situated about 115 yards off of DMAP.

It's an isolated ridge between two low areas.

I have a clear white lined marked where I know not to shoot past. My stand faces a little less than 90 degrees away from that line. The food plot that used to be there is on the far left side.

You can't even get to that portion of the DMAP area from their property, and it still don't shoot that direction.

I still want IB to post pictures of the setup...fence line, feeder, blind and accompanying google satellite images. We could clear this up real quick!

So you put a white line to not shoot past in a direction you do not shoot? Belt and suspenders guy?

There's a diagram a few pages back that the OP said was really close to the actual layout.

I am fine with the following:

Neighbor is on his property. Neighbor has not done anything as of yet to make him any type of enemy. Neighbor politely asked if he could retrieve a deer......OP was jerk.

Hell, I am on a club where the neighbor hunts about 200 yards off...real close to the line. They text me when they shoot and want to get down, whether it ran on our lease or not. Half the time I get down and go over and help them out and drink their coffee.

I see no reason as to why one would ever want to be a jerk to a neighbor.
