I'm no engineer, and this idea may have already been discussed, but this is what I came up with.

Been thinking about this...if you want only simultaneous flow from both pipes when the poo-water level has reached flood stage, then why wouldn't you just run a jumper line from the belly of the upper pipe down to the lower pipe?

BTW, I've engineered enough shite today. This is making my head hurt.

Float sensor in the over flow tank that opens pipe to the perforated pipe.

You can have any fluids leave the overflow exit pipe?

Why have any sensor. Just set the overflow at the elevation you want. Not sure if you would want it at sand filter level or a few inches higher.

You could go that way but he is still going to have to put one for the overflow drain. That or move it up and let it free flow but that would hinder its purpose.

Overflow is several inches higher than surfac level

I'd put a witch hat in there or you'll foul a check valve. They make an inline check valve for horizontal service that is spring loaded to a certain psi.

Clean outs would be good idea before pumps also

why do you want your treated water drain to only work when you have overflow ?
seems like that would just cause overflow and your treatment system wouldnt really be treating anything at all

Just an idea

Probably going to always discharge. This system will lose water via other processes as well

Ok.

My assumption was that the perforated pipe would always be flowing water that travels through the filter media, whatever it is. And the overflow would be for increased volume or if the perforated piping was getting plugged up. Just to keep from spilling over the sides.

Yea

He doesn't want the water to exit from the overfill but rather direct it and have it drain through the perfed pipe. However if it doesn't keep up you need a sensor to open the main drain on the overflow bucket to keep it from overfilling.

Run the perforated pipe up into the top of the overflow pipe instead of out and increase the size of the discharge on the overflow pipe.

/problem
