Wow man, sending prayers your way. Hope I have your outlook if I am ever in your shoes! I’m in Alabama and only fish Port Sulphur 3-4 times a year,so not much help there but we have a few deer around that I could certainly put you on. Email screwed up at the moment but will put my # up for text if interested.

Hey man-thanks for sharing your story. If I was closer, I'd go with you. In the meantime, I'll send some prayers your direction.

Prayers sent brother as we're the same age. Back in the early-mid 80’s, each summer I’d visit my friends (last name Ates) who lived in Gautier. We did lots of skiing and fishing in the Pascagoula River and near Ingalls. Hung out at the Point and at the Singing River Mall. Sadly Hurricane Georges F’kd up a lot of that area which has a special place in my heart. I currently live in Lafayette and if you need anything just holler.

Well shite, I remember your post about moving down there.
I go solo on occasion and my family gets annoyed by it. I’ll be happy to go with you anytime and do all the work part. Or you can take a ride and hop on my boat and I’ll do all the work part. I usually fish Delacroix, sometimes I go out of myrtle grove.
Edited - just saw your email. I’ll email you when I get to work

I was able to get out this morning and fish around Catfish Lake in Golden Meadow and ran up Bayou Blue to the Sulfur mine. Water was high as hell and I had a hard time launching my boat because of it. In Catfish Lake the white trout, small specks and freaking gafftops were hitting pretty much anything I tossed out. I didn't stay there long because the gafftops were driving me crazy and one about 10lbs broke one of my cheap arse rods. I found some birds in Bayou Blue and fished them for awhile and picked up a few decent trout in the 14-16 inch range but there were a lot through backs.
Reds had to be way back in the marsh because I didn't even have a hint of a redfish bite either on plastic or on market shrimp under a cork. Hardheads loved the shrimp though.
I think they are still moving in and the water is still around 82-84 degrees. So it needs to cool down a good bit before the bite really picks up. A couple of good cold fronts will get the high water down to what it should be and the fish will concentrate in the canals instead of the marsh ponds.
One real positive I saw was the shrimp were thick as hell wherever I stopped. If the fish weren't chasing them up, my trolling motor was kicking them up. Since the bait is in the marsh, the specks won't be far behind.
I had a really good day, physically, and though I am a bit tired, I really enjoyed getting out.
The only fly in the ointment is I must have picked up some water in my gas somewhere because my motor started missing a bit coming in and by the time I got back to Catfish Lake I could only get up to about 15 mph and 2700 rpm. I will fix that tomorrow though.

Ugh, so sorry for what you are going through, but it sounds like you are a fighter and fighting the good fight.
I'm of no help to you because of where I live, but yes, I think you can find a few fishing buddies from the OB who would consider it a privilege to fish with you.
Best of luck

WOW and WOW again,
I want to thank everyone for their responses of prayers and support. I have had 7-8 OB posters contact me on my email offering various types of help with my fishing buddy request. I knew the OB was full of good quality folks who share a love of the outdoors but I am currently really overwhelmed with the response to my post. I was really hesitant to post anything concerning my illness mainly because I don't want to "use the Cancer excuse" for things I want or need. Sometimes I have to ask for help and even though I hate that feeling, I have learned to accept that I simply cannot do the things I used to do.
Even if no fishing trips materialize from my post and request, I am extremely grateful for the responses and offers I have gotten so far. (I expect the fishing trips to pan out though)
You guys on here are some of the best people I have ever interacted with and though I don't know anyone on her in person yet, based on the thread and the emails I have gotten I am really looking forward to meeting some of ya'll.
Thanks again everyone,i
Tim

Yes, my best hunting buddy I met through a hunting/fishing forum. Years later we now got a camp together and have introduced our real life buddies to one anothers real life buddies and it's one big crew of us that hunt and fish together. Like you, I was in a place with no buddies and had to find someone if I wanted to go. Get a cold one with who you meet on here and plan your next fishing trip!
Congrats on being cancer free, go catch some fish!

gThat sounds great krzy_kjn, I fish Golden Meadow a bunch and have for years. I am still learning the area since it has so much marsh and diverse areas that it is tough to learn all of it. Esp. since I usually catch fish in the areas that I do fish. I would love to fish with others in the area. The best way to contact is using the following email. shoot me a message and I will respond with phone # for text or talk.

I wish I had time off during the week, I'd certainly take you out or go in your boat. I live in Raceland, HMU if you want to make a weekend trip.

Keep fighting the fight!
I live with a little issue that requires me to take a lil chemo pill daily. I do my best to ignore the mild side effects, but sometimes just tire out pretty quick. Stop, catch my breath and push on... mostly.
It certainly makes one try to savor life.
I live near BR, so not much help on the fishing front. but I'm sure you'll get that here.
Best of luck and keep living life!
