A little tidbit from the link.....

" the affidavit states that Fortinberry did not say she regretted any of her actions when interviewed by investigators, but instead said she "regrets the day that she lost weight," adding that she "doesn't think she would run into any of these issues if she was still 150 pounds heavier......"

Between poggie boats not just indiscriminately killing all of its bycatch , but im of the opinion the night time bow fishing should be heavily regulatedif not eliminated.
One could argue shooting undersized, or lights at night effectively stunning the reds.....
But as a longtime outdoorman, a very smart old fisherman pointed out just how much fishing pressure is on our reds. Us daytime fishermen pound them all day, and as the sun sets for us, the reds are being chased all night under boatable floodlight.
Any, all wildlife is affected hunting pressure, and will move to other areas less affected.
Im currently in a very similar situation with my son. Good luck, a ton of patience and understanding is all needed.
My saving light was NAMI. Its kinda the AA of the mental world. My city has a very active chapter with some local resources for both the person, and the family's involved.
They also have tons of information online that will help.

Not that I've seen or done it, but a friend use to catch all trout , tie a hook on an 8-10, leader with a float attached on 1 end, a hook on the other, then rebook to trout or reddish to watch where they go

In our area they were known as "BullDuckEphants"..

Face of a Bulldog
Voice of a Duck
Body of an Elephant
Yes I have seen one which is still in the family. It's not in very good shape at all , but for $5k one never knows the possibilities lol

As a past customer I'd love to confirm the quality of said colorless coolers. If the change happens to pass by again , count me in again for a cpl of different sizes.

My son is a little older , and fights any demons. I found a local chapter of NAMI. It’s a national organization for those with mental issues and the family members of them too. Great for resources and information. I don’t know if BR has a local but Lafayette does. I’d highly recommend contacting them. Family members support group meetings were first Sunday of every month. But you can search internet for current info
God bless you and yours. It’s a difficult journey, traveled by to many. There is always hope.
I just completed proton Radiation in Shreveport for prostrate cancer 1 year ago. I would highly recommend if radiation is an option vs removal.
Recovering Prostrate cancer also. Finished my radiation first of Dec almost a year ago. Urinating control and frequency almost back to normal. But dry shots are still a big issue I’m afraid I’ll fight for rest of my life.
Flomax at the time , was a game changer. In retrospect, I’m having second thoughts , but I personally think my issues are after effects of the radiation AND the hormones shot Dr gives to shrink the prostate. It kills what little testosterone you may have left in the body.
My test numbers gave me the options of Radiation vs removal. I’ll fight these side issues everyday happily over some of the possible side effects of removal that I’ve heard of from friends.
Sry for hijacking this thread subject, but if this is the only issue I’m having after what I’ve been thru over last 1 1/2 years , enjoy life especially with the wife , whether I’m shooting ropes, twine, or dust…. I get my pleasure pleasing / enjoying my moments with her.

Services are still a hit or miss if you are needing room/board etc. Most fast food places not totally destroyed are back open with limited service. Good restaurants are harder to find lol.

But goods , gas/bait/ice/fuel are available.

I have been fishing/camping the Golden Meadow/Fouchon area the last 20+ years.
The local businesses that are open definitely need the business.. safe travels, tight lines … and always drive 5 mph less than posted limit in Golden Meadow.

Yes both Goo’s in Golden Meadow and Terry’s in Leeville are open and usually have live minnows available. Call ahead to be sure.
Are you still seeking new members. I’m in my mid 60’s , moved back to NWLa as primary caregiver for elderly parent. With a sitter here weekdays , I cover for mom most weekends, I’d be very interested. I grew up hunting Tensas, enjoy a little meat in the fridge.

Horns on the wall are nice , watching that big boy work the wind, to check his scrap and beating his nose in his living room… that’s a picture in your mind that is priceless.

unfortunately, our fishing camp just north of Catfish Lake only has pilings left after Hurricane Ida and our home flooded

Not to hijack this post. I was born raised in Natchitoches. Moved south to Lafayette area in the 80’s. My dad set up an rv inside Golden Meadow 20+ yrs ago. Fished catfish lake area for last 20 years. Replaced rv last month , the marsh has changed big time and not in a good way.

With all that said , Most of my childhood friends have moved on. Im back in natchitoches caring for elderly family , and I love the outdoors. I’d be interested in getting into some stream fishing too. PM me if you would care for a little company. Safety in Numbers ..

PM. God bless all our brothers/sisters down da bayou. They still hurting recovering from Ida. But they are strong and determined, some of the best people I’ve ever met.
I’m also an old timer who had fortune to hunt tensas before the refuge. Grew up hunting Bengal Hunting club around big lake with our camp on the Tensas. The memories and stories I could tell. It was a paradise. A big mud hole when wet, but fun as hell.
What’s the market look like for the complete coolers that comes with no colors?? I have possession of 2 from the past , and love them. They have been they hell and back , still holds ice in the dead of summer. I need another 1-2 for possible gifts

I fish and have a camp in Golden Meadow. The few places left to rent/stay overnight are mostly taken by out of town contractors and workers. Live bait is almost nonexistent right now. Services are still very limited. Be careful on the water with all the debris in the water. It will come back , always does , but Ida definitely hit the area hard.
As the primary caregiver for my 90+ yo mother who tends to fall often, her first bad fall was 3 yrs ago and broke hip in 3 different places. Plates screws and a lot of time effort and thepery.

The first warning we got from her orthopedic at that time in hospital , and we took it to heart was as follows.

He told her in our first pre operation conference, from the reports he reads …. Typically elderly patients, over 80+ years of age , after a bad fall with hip fractures, 80% will pass away within first year. Not from this hip fracture surgery , nowadays it’s not a very complicated surgery as surgery’s go. The fracture would be stronger than it was before.

But secondary infections, additional falls during recovery, lack of participation in PT, taking chances not using walker , etc., change in balance /mobility… all lead to further problems down the road that get worse and harder to recover from each time.

Her attitude and inner strength has carried her thru another 3 yrs of several falls and breaks.
That and a hell of a PT that does home health calls. He knows how to motivate her into doing her work without hardly noticing.

I hope I have her spirit and will for life at that age. It’s an amazing experience and an Honor to be able to care for her.

Good luck with FIL , but in reality it’s all within him. Get him motivated, keep him smiling his spirits up. Our older family raised us, it’s a pleasure to help her now at this time of her life.

I’m lucky I guess. First time I’ve had to file a hurricane damage claim.

Just finished replacing shingles on roof from last years storm in Lafayette. State Farm .. first time I had to deal with deductible issue. FYI , my deductible was at 5%, which I wasn’t aware of , then I found out this is based on replacement cost of your house, not appraisal value. What a wake up call. I’ll be shopping soon.
