Need help picking a new truck

My work truck is getting a bit long in the tooth. Big boss just called and told me to pick out any truck I want, as long as it’s white, and let him know. So, if you had a choice of any truck to drive, what would it be? Keep in mind my current truck is a 2016 F150 5.0 with 241k miles on it, so I will be driving for a while. I don’t know the issues with current diesel or gas trucks.

I know people will downvote, but I have a 2018 Nissan Titan and I love it.

Do you have to pay for the fuel and maintenance?

No, nothing. Not a penny.
My initial reaction is an F250 or GMC 2500 diesel, but I don’t know which is better/nicer or if I should stick to Gas.

Why would you consider diesel?

Definitely get a gas engine.

Because he's not paying fuel or maintenance costs.

And what advantage does he get from diesel?

What type of work will this truck be used for?

My only input is that if you're going to actually haul/tow stuff, get a 3500 single wheel if you want a diesel. The weight of the engine cuts way into the payload capacity of 3/4 ton trucks.
Otherwise, get what ya like.

I’ve been driving 3/4 diesels for 15 years and I don’t think I’ll go back to a gasser half ton anytime soon. With that being said if you don’t haul a lot or tow much then a gas half ton is easier to drive around town and get in and out of places. It’s also easier on tires and less to maintain.

I’m in industrial construction. While it isn’t all the time, I do/can need to haul around some heavier trailers/loads. We have some decent sized trailers I cannot do that with in my current truck.

This sounds like a perk of having a smaller truck.

I think this is the only real consideration plus comfort if you drive a lot.
I'm an old man and have always been partial to how the Fords ride but I think now most American 1/2 tons ride a lot like a car. The Toyotas were always a bit of a stiff ride for me and I don't know if that has changed over the years,

Aren’t they going to stop production of the Titan to focus on Electric vehicles?

Any known issues with any new trucks I should be aware of?

Mine is 2012 so I haven't kept up. I think that Ford or GM are good choices, I have a Ford ECO boost. I haven't had any real problems. If I had to do it all over again I would probably go with the V8 they offered back then.

F350 or 3500 SRW all the way. Ford and GM all have their pros and cons. To say now a days there is a GOAT is non existent. The Ram isn’t a bad option but they’re supposed to be doing a refresh in 2024.
