Just purchased a new tikka superlite in a 300mag and was wondering if anybody has suggestions on what shot best out of theirs?

I'd just go ahead and shoot whatever Bigfishchoupique shoots.

What are you shooting with it?
I'd shoot something fairly tough like accubond or barnes TSX, especially if you shoot things up close occasionally. 300 win mag is a scooger

I reload the ttsx for my 270 weatherby mag. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing better.

Decide on a grain you'd like to shoot and then pattern at least 3 different options.
If you plan to travel hunt with it, consider using a solid copper bullet in the event you eventually find yourself wanting to hunt some land out west that restricts bullets to non-toxic only.

Just deer. We don’t even have hogs in the area. Most shots between 150-300 yards.

nosler trophy grade 180gr gets me 3/4 MOA all day.

Not 300wm but i shoot hornady American whitetail and hornady sst both 150grain out of a t-3 in 308 and they do great. They are cheap and would be a good starting point if nothing else to get the gun on paper and dirty the barrel.
As downshift said though the 300wm is hot and you may want a solid bullet for the closer range shots.

Why do you need a 300 mag?

My dad has been shooting Swift A frames for two decades in his 300 WinMag and they don't over expand if you happen to need to take a closer shot. It's all I shoot in my 7mm Rem Mag as well.

I didn’t need it. I wanted it. Never need an excuse to buy a new gun.

130gr or 150gr Barnes TTSX bullet flying between 3400-3500fps.its all you will need.

That would be a meat grenade. I would shoot a much heavier bullet much slower. Definitely would use 180's and I'd like to move them at about 2700.

My Tikka T3 300 WM likes the 165 gr Barnes. But it kills at both ends. No fun to shoot, not even fun to talk about

Nope that's false. Solid copper doesn't break like lead. You can eat right up to the bullet. Mine are going 3500+ fps and punch 2 small holes on each side of a deer. I didn't have to throw any meat away. I shoot behind the shoulder.

My 300 WBY likes 180 grain Ballistic Tips and 180 grain Partitions.

Actually a slower, more controlled expanding bullet would be much more effective at the ranges you suggested.
Also, a superlite in a .300 Mag is a no bueno for me.

Disclaimer: I don't own a 300 Mag. For what you've described, I'd suggest a controlled expansion bullet like a 165-180 gr Nosler Accubond or Partition.
