He said he weighed it at 14.2#. It's not like he's guessing.

Craptastic scale? It's not a 14lb pompano, regardless.

No clue. Fish was held 14.2mm from the camera for the pics.

Looking at the forehead pic, makes me think permit, but everything else looks pompano. Hell of a catch no matter what.

How big is it then? If you call BS you need to at least make your guess and show your dick.

It may not be 14, but it sure looks every bit of 10-12 to me and maybe more. I don’t get calling the OP out here

Weird thing to get butthurt about. I don't have a damn clue from a crappy pic, but do you really think someone damn near doubled up the WORLD record pompano?
Already said it's a hell of a fish whether it's a pompano or a permit.

ETA: but if it makes you happy, I'm going to go 7lbs 10oz and a new state record. Congrats to the fella that caught it.

I think offshore fish records get broken a lot and never reported. Just my opinion.

I've been on two trips were a state record was in the box and nobody felt like jacking with it.

Are we sure this isn't a turkey hunting thread?

Agreed. I've seen a few of different species that were probably close, but no one on the boat cared.
Still don't think that applies to the fish in question here.

I've never caught a pomp or a permit so idk shite about this thread. I do hope ops podnuh busts the record.

The beeliner record was once broken by 3 pounds and reportedly tasted spectacular.

That's a permit, bud. You can tell by the anal fin.

Still a nice catch. They are frigging delicious too.

I caught a yellowtail snapper that was definitely top 3 in the books for Louisiana. It became #1 on a dinner plate.

I've never caught either, but damn it looks like the top picture to me, the pompano.

I guess the anal fin looks like permit. The tail and color sure look like pompano, but anal fin is not set further back.
