The Mrs and I want to start doing outdoors activities on the weekends. Can anyone suggest trails that we can go out for a nice hike?

What is driving distance for you?

Clark Creek isn't far.

Comite River Park Trails are off of Hoover road.

"Clark Creek Natural Area" on the border of Louisiana and Mississippi.

This is the best local option by far.

Just about all of the state parks have some kind of hiking trails.

The Desoto National Forest in MS has a long trail that ties into different camp grounds. You could also canoe camp in the area on the Black Creek.

I love hiking trails and camping, but I'm not doing it in South LA, in the summertime.

Chicot State Park is 1.5 hours from BR and has a hiking trail that surrounds the lake.

Clark Creek
Port Hudson State Historic Site (Fort Desperate)
Chicot State Park
Kisatchie National Forest - Wild Azalea Trail
Tuxachanie Trail
Tickfaw State Park (short trails)
Fountainbleau SP (also short trails)
Tammany Trace (bike trail from Fountainbleau SP all the way to Abita Springs and beyond. Very easy ride as it's a rails to trails project. I like to start at the Mandeville Train Station and pedal to Abita Springs...eat lunch at Abita Brew Pub and return)

This is how I feel. I went to that Northlake trail area on the northshore a few weekends ago and the horseflies, mosquitoes, and heat didn’t make it enjoyable

I was planning to go camp near the beach at Fort Pickens in late June, but they closed it down the week before I was supposed to go.

I will start planning stuff again in late September with thoughts to maybe go to north Alabama to camp and hike

Sounds like a great plan, that's around the time I start too.

Not trying to be negative in my other post, I just would be miserable personally.

Tunica Hills State Park. Elevation change... in LOUISIANA!

Clark's Creek in Mississippi will get you waterfalls.

Both are about an hour away. Maybe a little more.

That looks great and I've never heard of that website, so thanks for linking.

I'm all about starting to explore places like that, but the OP is looking for weekend stuff and that's 8 hours away.

Yeah, I can hike in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon but not Clark Creek. Sad.

I agree, not like people are going to be in close contact with the masses while hiking in nature, but....

Gubmint gonna gubmint I guess.
