I've got land that has been in my family 4 generations

My kids have to pay this ridiculous license fee because I work in Louisiana. Regardless of the taxes we have paid over 100 yrs of property ownership.

The govt needs a great reset

You don’t have to work/live in LA and your kids don’t have to hunt in MS.

Whole lotta reasons to bag on MS and mdwfp. But this ain’t one.

What are the chances your kids will be checked on private land? I'm just saying.

If you own land and pay taxes on that land there truly should be some sort of break on the fees.

If the land is in your name, don’t think you need a license do you?

My personal belief is that there should be no income from people for anything provided by the govt other than you regular taxes.

That is a nice belief, but without hunting licenses most states wouldn’t have the resources to manage the resources.

Tell them to go to college in MS, they get an exception for going to school in MS.

Pay $500 to hunt or $5k more in out of state college

I looked into that and no you still need a license to hunt land that has your name on the deed. If you can find something to the contrary please let me know.

I understand paying to play but when paying taxes as well there should be something in place to allow for a lower license.

In Mississippi, if you are a resident, you do not need a license to hunt your own land, but if you are a non resident you do need a license to hunt your OWN land , it is bullshite but it is the law

This is correct. I don’t agree with it either and I’m a resident. My dad was born in Mississippi, and was a DAV. He lived in La but still had to buy a NR license to his land. He resented that fact and quit hunting the last couple years of his life because of it.

Whole lot of yelling at clouds in this thread. Licenses are a small percentage of my yearly hunting expenses. I probably pay more in sales tax on all the other hunting crap I buy.

Want to really stick it to them, reduce your corn purchases by the cost of your license.

Can't really blame them for trying to crank up the price. It doesn't look like it's stopping out of state hunters. What's the dip from 2011 to 2013 from? I killed more deer in Mississippi those years than any other. I was mad at 'em.

403.50 plus tax for your exact endorsements in LA.

Just did it and thank you for reminding me.

How do you come up with that? It is $300 to hunt deer in LA for a NR and 475 for a NR to do same in MS?

Part of the issue when you charge this much for licensing is people throw game management out the door. Coonasses go full coon arse and kill everything.

2000 for my wife, myself, and two kids to hunt land we have owned for over 100 years. Land I pay another 2000 for in property taxes. We work in Louisiana because Miss had shite for industry for years and years.

Fwiw, I’m happy to pay more for a wma permit etc since I am using the states resources and money. But not for my property which the state does nothing for.

Now do saltwater fishing for both. It's a game. Y'all want to hunt deer here and we want to catch fish (large catch limits there).

If this is such a hardship, why don’t you buy land in LA. Seems an easy win.

You sound like the guy driving off the lot with a new Ram pickup, bishing about how much it cost. You have choices, man!

Any lease south of Jackson and West of I55 is so overpriced it’s sad.
I hunted south of Port Gibson for years. I watched the price steadily increase while the hunting quality decreased. Some of the “non-residents” thought they owned the lease since they were there more often.
Long story short I joined a lease 3 hours north of where I was with all like minded MS residents. I’m paying half the price and the hunting is WAY better. SW Mississippi is nothing compared to what it was 20 yrs ago.
You boys keep on paying those ridiculous prices to watch trash racks walk around.
I wish I’d of made the move I did 15 years sooner
