Yea no shite.
At the kids fishing rodeo I got my arse kicked by a girl who's parents were running a bait/unhook assembly line with 3 poles. You can't have a fishing tournament for 5 year olds without bullshite

That's up to the tournament. Interesting part was the next morning they changed he results on their website to reflect the fish being dq'd at 7:41 am. My phone started blowing up with texts and calls. 30 minutes later they switched it back again.

The rules aren't clear...that's the problem. Moreover, in any tourney I've ever heard of, this fish is DQed.

I think the 1 pound listed for Aries was from weighing the bill separately...
Unfortunately, no matter how precise they get with the rule book they can never cover everything and decisions like these will have to be made subjectively.
The combination of no video evidence/sketchy story on how it happened and when it happened makes this a tough one to swallow.

Screw bobby carter and his chickenshit show. Beetlejuice runs a better tourney out of venice.

I appreciate you coming to clear some things up. I personally just thought you could have handled the social media stuff better, but whatever that's your business not mine. As far as the dilemma goes, it seems to be a problem that shouldn't be tolerated with that kind of money on the line.
My questions for you
What was asked in the poly about the actual catch? (Might not be able to disclose)
What was/is the tourney committe saying about their ruling?
How rare is it for these guys to not have video evidence of their kill? Do you film all your catches?

First of all, I will stand by what I wrote on social media because I do believe the sport is going in a bad direction with its rules getting further and further away from igfa and more along the lines of do whatever it takes to bring a dead one back. They allowed harpoons in the last tournament??
I have a copy of the polygraph questions asked but will not post that here for obvious reasons. They were given to me by the tournament director.
The committee said they couldn't prove the fish had been propped and they allowed it to get weighed in the heat of the moment. That is all they said when I met with them.
It is not only rare to not film these catches but it a absolute lie and that's the part that got under my skin. We film every billfish we hook because if you pull the hook while leadering the fish, you still want to get the release points for identifying the fish. There was 250-300 K just in release in this tournament. His team was in multiple release categories just like us. Why would that boat with a paid professional crew not have the cameras rolling. I have no doubt there was a video at some point.

JJ, file a lawsuit under the rules of the tournament. recover your money
Posted on 6/12/17 at 9:56 pm to jjtabor
So what can happen going forward? anything you can do? Rule changes?
Posted on 6/12/17 at 10:05 pm to jjtabor
No camera rolling reminds me of all the dindu nuffins that have been killed with 100s of eyewitnesses and nobody got it on their gubment phones. But if fish would have run Line across prop, it would as if a cop did it and there'd be 150 different video angles. I mean nobody got their IPhone out and videoed the fish tailwalking? Come on man

Bobby Carter needs to get his shite together. I can't imagine breaking a bill getting a fish into the boat if that was their story. The only possible way for a bill to get sheared like that is a prop. If it jumped into the boat the boat would have some battle scars. Probably worse than the bill.
