I barely got out this weekend when levee or something failed and water went from nothing to 3 feet in 45 minutes
Where were you when this happened?
I will probably be heading out to our duck lease in western Terrebonne to get a go devil boat that we leave out there. Even 2-3 ft above normal will create some problems where we are located.

Maybe what you are calling a spot us different than what these guys in GA call it. I would have normally just called it a largemouth or Florida black bass. Likely could all be different subspecies but definitely what I grew up calling a largemouth.

What is concerning to me is that the Atchafalaya at Morgan city is at 5.93ft this afternoon and is expected to 7ft monday and this is without the extra flow from the Morganza. I wonder if it could get even higher than 2011 for Morgan City.

The Atch River was at 7.5 feet when they opened the Morganza spillway on May 14, 2011. They put 170,000cfs through Morganza and the river got to 10.3 ft.
It will not get that high unless a whole lot more rain happens up north.
This flood is not as bad as 2011, 1973, or 1927.
Calm down!!

Good thing is that I might get a chance to take part on the pig shoot off the levee. Missed out on the last one.

shite. I bought my camp in Pigeon after the 2011 event. Does anyone know how bad it will effect Grand River? My camp is on the outside of the levee a bout a couple hundred yards but is 50' from grand river.
And you're in sorrel there, not pigeon.

We have some old family pictures of my great grandparents house in Bayou Chene during the 1927 flood. .
My grandparent lived in the town of Raccourci in 1927, which no longer exist, it was right about where the Morganza locks are now. There are no pictures but my Grandma used to tell me stories about it.

I have not hunted in 15 years and a pig shoot sounds like a lot of fun!
