Those amazing creatures must do well in hurricane force winds.

We went from our two little ones squabbling around the feeders to a half dozen after the storm. Constant dogfights. So fun to watch

I went from a few to maybe 20. They fight some but now I regularly have every spot on the feeders occupied. They sit side by side and take turns. They are sucking feeders dry. Feels a little crazy using generator power to make more juice but I love them.

Put sugar and water in a gatorade bottle and shake it up a few times. That's what I have been doing for 20+ years

I haven’t seen hummingbirds but we have seen lightning bugs for the first Time since I was a kid, at least in Louisiana.

When I was hanging my feeders back up Monday morning they were flying up to them before I let go.

They may be starting to migrate also. Where I normally have 5 or 6 yesterday I started to have 12 to 15. This morning there are even more. I am putting up a third feeder. I am in the far NW corner of Arkansas.

If you could put a hummingbird's fight in a game rooster, that would be a bad arse. They are the fightingest creature that I know of.

I'm in Alex and watching them dogfight at feeder now . They showed up about two weeks ago .

There are zero hummingbird species outside of the Americas. And the eastern US is pretty lame with only one species in any real numbers (out of 330 total species). But we do have lots of them now.
This is the time of year when the numbers really pick up. The population has probably more than doubled from the young they've raised, and the northern populations are heading south as migration is starting now.
This animation is pretty cool and shows where the hummingbirds are at each week of the year. We're approaching the maximum population for the year in Louisiana, it will last for a few more weeks.

We had 3-4 before the storm, and now we have 12-14+ and have to fill up the feeders daily....Hard to count them when there's that many around two feeders...I could watch them all day.

My little grandson calls them tweety birds because of the sounds they make when fighting.

I'll be making 2 quarts a day pretty soon. That will last well into September, then a rapid decrease as we get close to October.
