Just know that about 10% of John Deere’s workforce is unemployed because of these prices.

You really think that ~$4/bushel corn is the biggest reason JD had a reduction force, nothing to do with record profit years when they could and did charge whatever they wanted to, being WOKE and DEI without realizing who thier customer base was, charging $140/hour labor to work on thier tractors which they have manipulated the market so you had to use JD for repairs, etc….sounds like a market correction and JD has started to make some changes , and $4/bushel corn ain’t got much to do with it

Corn is $4 per bushel right now.

I don't have reference so I had to look up a chart.

Does this mean that farmers that decided to plant corn for this year regret not planting something else? I assume inputs are still pretty high.

Unfortunately prices are dog shite for all crops right now. So you're planting what you can to not lose the most money. Thanks Joe!

Shooting deer over baited plots isn’t real hunting. It’s more like harvesting. I do it every year, have since I was a kid. But it’s not really hunting. Steven rinella does real hunting. Change my mind

Limit 120 bags per vehicle?

First reaction: People rolling up to Buccees to buy 3 pallets of corn?

On second thought: It is Texas.

Great. Just what we need is more armchair shooters and less hunters

Steve rinnellla hunts in Wisconsin sometimes and sits in a blind and and shoots deer moving through a strip of woods heading to and from feed. So Is that real hunting or not cus I do a lot of that.
I have walked 5 miles to sit and glass a 300yd clearing from the top of a 4ft knob waiting for spot and stalk opportunities. But the adjacent neighbors didn’t appreciate me crossing multiple property lines since most of the leases I hunt are only 500-1k acers!!

I’d say yes bc you were able to pinpoint where they’re moving & set up a blind. That’s different than setting up bait and waiting a couple months for them to find it then “hunting” based on their feed schedule. Looks like I upset a few “hunters” lmao. At least I know I’m not really hunting when I’m doing it. I still process every bit of it myself from field to table though which I take pride in.

The argument has been had 1000 times on this board and others, and it all comes down to where you draw the line. I’ve been to midwestern states where you can see for 1000 yards and the deer are so unpressured they will let you walk up within 50 feet. Explain to me how shooting those deer with a rifle is any more challenging. I’d rather shoot a cow, they taste better.

Eventually you’ll get to anything less than spearing one from the ground after you put the stalk on it isn’t hunting, then you’ll have some nutsack that says a spear point made from steel is cheating. Who gives a frick. None of us, not a single one, are hunting for subsistence. I do it because it’s enjoyable, and I don’t give one solitary shite what anyone else decides constitutes hunting.

corn shucked.

Being a farmer and knowing many more I can honestly say not one farmer feels sorry for John Deere.

What 600# feeder y’all using? I’m looking at getting 2. Tired of constantly refilling the 30gal drums I currently have for wife and kids. (sometimes me too)

I’m using the Game Winner brand from Academy. Had to replace the controllers after a few years. Replaced them with Moultrie and added solar panels, but the feeder itself is pretty solid.

Gotcha. Definitely adding a solar panel to it.
