next weekend out of Venice.

Time is not really adjustable. Yearly guys trip, friends coming back home from living out of town (Houston, Monterrey). How are the fishing reports from Venice? Would Fourchon be any better?

someone I know that runs a charter in Venice posted this today:

Today was our day! 14 tunas and an XL sword; and done by 1:30. Stay tuned

For inshore check out Venice Guide Service and Blue Line Charter Service. 2 good friends of mine. Great fishing.

We went with them a couple years back with Captain King but we were early/late for the tuna bite and came back with 1 after going out 100 miles. Also, no radio on his yellowfin...

What fishing guide got in a fight with a guy on his boat and left him at sea? It was years ago. I would say the last 10 years.

This was in Venice.

The guy lived.

Not saying this is the guy. This just made me think of it.

Check with Capt. Ron Price. He routinely does one day inshore one day offshore, I think Josh Howard handles his offshore. You’ll not meet a harder working guide or nicer facilities than Ron brings to the table.

I would love to hear the story about someone being left at sea.

I can’t speak to inshore, but Paradise Outfitters does a good job offshore. They have a couple of 42’ cats. I think they are a good value as fuel is included in their price. I haven’t fished with Safari Blue, but have been around his boat before - pretty recognizable.

Say what? An offshore boat with no radio? That's deal killer. I would not step foot on the boat.

Who doesn't spend a few hundred on a vhf radio/antenna and get their mmsi if they go offshore?

Especially a guide/charter?

Particularly odd considering it is a $300K(+) boat. something does not add up.

I am 99.99% sure he is talking about an XM radio for music. There is no way in hell there isn't a comm radio on that boat.

Well, that changes things.

Also surprising, but not a deal killer.

If I had my choice of two guides out of Venice right now, I’d do reel shot inshore one day and gray long with go long charters offshore the next.

Most of the offshore guides seem to be running a long ways to catch 40-140 lb yellowfin. And they all seem to be killing them. I don’t know if you could Make a bad choice amongst the reputable guides. If you want to swordfish you could probably get pickier.

To offer a different opinion, I’ve fished with scott king before and had a great trip.
