Good evening gents,

I need to order some new work boots and was looking for some suggestions. In the past I've always worn Timberland Pro's with a metatarsal guard on the exterior and my only complaints are that the soles tend to crack after about 6-8 months and being that they arent waterproof, they suck when it rains. So my next pair will hopefully be waterproof as well.

We order our boots through Grainger so unfortunately we arent able to try them on before getting them. So what are your suggestions for boots that are comfortable and will actually last a while? My wants are as follows:
Comfortable
Steel or composite toe
Waterproof
Metatarsal guard but I can easily add one if needed.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and please let me know of any that were absolutely horrible as well.

What kind of work do you do?

I wear the Timberland Pros, too. Good for being on your feet on concrete all day.

In sales and service for an environmental company. So we move 55g drums of chemicals alot hence why we are required to have metatarsal guards.

I wear Redwing Pecos every day and have not been unsatisfied with them. I always buy here locally and the last time I bought boots they had the same boot, same size, and 3 different countries of origin. I did buy the "Made in USA" boots and will continue to do so.

Redwing Max bond boots.

Synthetic for chemical resistance and water proof.

Not a chance I would order a pair of boots, especially safety goes boot without trying them on. Find a place that sells the same brands as Grainger and try some on.

We can send them back if they dont fit right or something is wrong. Its def aggravating though to not try them on first and hope they fit right. Thats pretty much why Ive just always stayed with the Timberland Pro's since I knew they would fit right.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

Redwing Pecos are the longest lasting but man they're hell to break in.

I am currently wearing justins with foam like padding built in and man they're comfortable as hell

See if the boots that are sold by Grainger are also sold at any local boot stores and go try them on before ordering

I do this type of shopping. Just buy some boot cleaner or something while you're in there.

I wear Ariats. My boots have composite toe, are waterproof, slip resistant, and are EH rated. Very comfortable boots.
