That’s a good idea - thinking this one since it is bigger

LINK

Was thinking the ice chest route but I wanted to hold it a long time and it may be cheaper to buy one of these since I have AC power in my truck

Lil Chief smoker electric smoker. I don't think they go above 165 degrees.

Just be careful that it actually holds at 150 deg on low setting. Sometimes they run hotter.

The one you linked uses 1450 watts on high. No idea watts on low but most of the factory inverter plugs in an auto do about 400 watts max unless its an F150 Lightning electric truck.

I’m only going to run it on the lowest setting - it’s for a long drive and I want to have it when I get where I am going for several hours

I would look for a decent sized toaster oven on a Black Friday sale. Know several people who use those for long rests on a brisket. Trick will be finding one sized bite enough that can fit a brisket.

Even if you preheat a cooler, a single brisket probably won’t hold for 10-12+ hours. I’ve done 7ish hours and it wouldn’t have gone much farther. Now if you pack 3 or 4 briskets right off the pit in one, it probably would.

Does your oven not go that low? Mine goes down to 135.

Get a no color ice chest, wrap it in a few towels and stick it in the ice chest without opening it...... it's will stay warm for 10 hours or more.

BBQ Blanket

Put it in this, wrap with blankets and stick in cooler. My experience, it will hold temp on brisket for up to 6 hours!

I have used the Old Smokey Smoker (Redi Smoke before the name change) before the pellet smokers etc got popular. LINK 150 bucks. Its cheap, easy to clean and use. You don't get the bark like in a stick burner, but its a great little smoker, very forgiving and really convenient.

Give yourself a gift that you can use anywhere and often. These 12 volt thermoelectric heater/cooler chests are the answer to keeping food or drinks warm or cool on the road or in the boat. Most will keep the contents at a temperature 40 degrees hotter or cooler than the ambient. In your case it would be beneficial to plug it in on the heat mode and let it get up to temperature in advance of inserting the package of meat. It may not be at 135 degrees but it will definitely help the meat to maintain temperature longer. I have the Koolatron P27 and it works great, If I were to purchase another it would be the Wagan EL6244 46-Quart 12V model for the additional space inside.
