re: Looking for a true pocket pistol. Would rather a 9mm but they all seem too big.

I like my Hellcat but strictly in terms of carry comfort, my snubnose rules.

Gonna need a lot of practice with it though.
I mean, I’m never going to be shooting eyes out at 30 yes. But ten rounds is ten rounds, and it will fit in my pocket.
I have a Glock 42 that’s a great pistol to shoot, but it’s too big to pocket carry. And it’s a 7 rd pistol.
My Hellcat is probably my favorite gun I own. It shoots great, easy to carry. It’s my woods gun. I have a strap holster that goes on my pack, and it goes with me everywhere. Saw SA released a drop in threaded barrel replacement today. Gonna have to check that out.

Congrats on your new gun! I'm sure you'll like it. The LCP/LCP Max was going to be one of my suggestions. My first pocket gun for cc was a Kel-Tec P3AT. It was 100% reliable for me. I carried it a number of years before I decided I didn't like the fact that it was designed so the slide didn't lock up on the last round. Then I got a Kahr CW380. I've carried it a number of years. The Glock 43 and S&W Shield were a little too big to fit comfortably in all my pockets like the CW380 does. Compared to the CW380, the Sig 238 and Kimber Micro 380 had more external surfaces that to snag on a draw.
A previous poster mentioned he carries a pocket gun w/o a holster. Please don't do this. Buy a holster that covers the trigger to minimize the risk of an accidental discharge. I like my pocket holster to have "wings" front and back to ensure the holster stays in the pocket on a draw. I also suggest you get a magazine holder for your spare LCP Max magazine.
As far as 9mms, the mass produced 9mms that'll best fit in a pocket that I'm aware of are the Kahr CM/PM 9, the Kel-Tec PF9 and Beretta Pico. I have a CM9 and pocket carry it some, but unlike the CW380 size handguns, it won't fit in ALL pockets. I have an Sig P365 and it would not fit in my pockets, either.
Kahr CW380

I’ll never talk someone out of buying another gun, but if you’re in a situation where you’re having to change mags on a pocket .380 you’ve got either some bad karma or some bad luck.

That's true, but it's kinda like Jack Reacher says, "Hope for the best, plan for the worst."

I've gotten more than a few people who were unfamiliar with firearms to at least think about them differently using that reasoning.
"Why do you think you need a gun to go to Publix?"
"I don't. If I thought I needed a gun to run a simple errand I wouldn't go."
"Then why do you carry one?"
"Why do you have smoke alarms? Do you think your house is going to burn down?"
They generally have to chew on that one for a while.

Pocket carry has serious limitations when you are seated. Do you spend much time driving ? With seatbelt ??
Wearing jeans ??
Very few people can quickly deploy a pocket carry pistol

Fact, especially with jeans. I only pocket carry when nothing else is feasible, generally meaning my shirt has to be tucked in but I'm not wearing a jacket. For everything else, especially driving, it's a cross-draw/appendix OWB.

I carry a lcp max 380 when I'm out jogging. I dont notice it. Its a good shooter but kinda a rattly pos. So perfect for jogging and whatnot because I dont care about it. My bodyguard 380 was better quality and being a true double action trigger with one in the chamber, I was more comfortable with it. Had issues with mags falling out on the bg though. The mag release wears out over time.

All I can tolerate is a regular original LCP in the pocket (in a holster). The LCP MAX is fatter and heavier. The Sig P938 has an exposed hammer that you have to carry cocked and locked - not my favorite and it doesn’t hold many rounds anyway for a 9mm, and it’s way heavier than an LCP (any variant). Sig P365 is an awesome gun for IWB but not in the pocket - it’s way way too fat and heavy for my pocket. Guess it’s irrelevant for me since all those guns are now underwater in the gulf but hope you get something from my experience.

If you’re looking at straight pocket rockets need to look at single stacks. These are some I considered before detaining on on.
Pm9/cm9, db380, db9, p238, lcp
If you really don’t need it to pick in a wallet holster or pocket then consider the p365, p365x or p365xl all can come with a cheap rmr. The hellcat is pretty nice too and comes with a nice package most time will get a rmr cutout and 3-4 mags.
Go to a range and rent a few out, the double stacks will way outpreform a single stack in how it fits in your hand and how many rounds you can have then the single stack is so easy to conceal u can carry anywhere and don’t have to get all crazy self conscious.

Alien gear shapeshift is a great choice

If you are looking for a true pocket carry it’s not a situation like that kid in the mall where he shot across the food court, you are talking true personal self defense of less than 10 yards and likely more like less than 10 ft. Getting shot twice or more with even a .22 or .380 +p at 10 ft or more is likely changing your outcome.
It’s a lot better to comfortably carry in more situations than uncomfortably or never carry.

Keltec .32 with 73gr FMJ. It still penetrates the FBI minimum through layers of clothing. Easy to shoot too, hardly any recoil. And KT makes a factory 10 round mag with finger extension.

So what is the smallest 9mm pocket pistol?
The smallest I’ve seen is probably the Diamondback DB9.
