Anyone on the board Been dove hunting in Texas?

good point. Coming from Mississippi so East Texas.

Keep going. Dove hunting in East Texas is very hit or miss or baited.
Might have some luck down around El Campo, but personally I’d go down around San Antonio

If you can make it all the way to Lubbock or anywhere around LaMesa, Seminole, Big Spring, Midland / Odessa chances are you can get access to some private property with dove shooting that will rival anything in the continental US. Long way to drive from Louisiana but it'd be worth it...or cross over to the land of enchantment and find a water hole and shoot public land without bothering with asking the land owner. It is entirely possible to get permission to shoot dove on private land in west Texas and the panhandle by knocking on doors. May take a trip or two but its worth it and it is a multiple day season...as cold fronts move through birds load up in peanuts and alfalfa.....

Hunted El Campo this weekend and I wasn’t impressed. Not sure if the weather they had Thursday screwed everything up but it was a tough weekend. Usually I hunt opening weekend west of San Antonio not sure why i didn’t do that this year. Further drive from Mississippi but you’ll have better odds and much better scenery.

You were just on the wrong field (had that happen to us last year). We were on a corn field sat and sun and got limits while seeing a TON of birds both days in El Campo.

I’m headed to Dilley TX (an hour SW of San Antonio) in a month for a dove hunt with 10 or so friends. Reports seem good there.

Shot some birds in EC on Saturday but they definitely weren’t as thick as past few years.

Look here and click outfitters

There's a lot of land north east and north of DFW you can buy a pass to hunt but you are at the mercy of hit and miss and run the risk of getting on the wrong property.
Most guides have hunts for $75.00 a day person.

Another option is to check craigs list. From time to time there are several ads on craigslist for dove shoots around Lubbock and Amarillo and DFW. No idea about quality but one of the best hunting contacts I ever made was because I contacted a guy on craigslist about a goose lease outside of Lubbock. Opened up a wealth of private land access....

Dilley is traditionally a strong area.

Dry Creek Outfitters
We went opening day last week and limited out with 13 people by 10:AM. We saw more than 20,0000 birds flying. Flocks of 100 or more, wave after wave.
We went with Dry Creek around the Witchita Falls area.

I just moved from the New Braunfels area, and our house was surrounded by mesquite scrub on two sides. Season opening and being shot at changes the birds habits, but you could have shot a limit of whitewings from our back porch every afternoon there. We had plenty of birds this summer.
Going to that area would give you a chance to shoot some birds and get some great food in the evenings.
