Looking for a dark area close to New Orleans area to watch the Perseid Meteor Showers

I asked this question on the OT and didn't get a lot of traction.

Someone suggested looking at dark sky/light pollution websites.

I found this one Light Pollution Map

Looking at it, it seems there is a lot of light pollution all around southeast Louisiana.

My wife (no pics) and kid want to see them. But I don't feel like driving for hours in the middle of the night. I was thinking maybe Manchac would be good. Not sure though.

I checked. Still pretty bright. Right I'm thinking either Manchac or on Hwy 90 a little south of Des Allemands

Ruddock exit off 55 or out past Paris Rd on 10. Bring a rifle if you choose the latter
