The harbor freight brand of hand tool "pittsburgh" has a lifetime warranty.

Sears brand of hand tool "craftsman" has a lifetime warranty.

Both of these brands are made the same

I have a few of those black clamps and they slip on me. I won't buy any more of them.

Don't buy anything from Harbor Freight that requires precision settings. The fit and finish on those items aren't usually good enough to get the results you need.

However, I've heard their Predator line of small engines are pretty solid.

I have not tried their larger ones, but I have not had good luck with the ones in the 6"-18" range. No mas.

I have the cheap little generator from Harbor Freight a guy bought for our camp to run outside lights with. It's going on 5 or 6 years old and has only had to have the carb cleaned up once. It's the 900 watt model and I think he paid $89 for it.

I also bought a $99 Honda clone motor from HF last year to replace one on a log splitter. Starts on the first pull every time so far.

I see these engines on go-karts, mini bikes, and they've very popular on the Thai mud motor kits.

I have a 1/2" electric impact that I've used in the past for breaking bolts loose (sure helps keeps busted knuckles to a minimum). I've had no issues with my HF/Pittsburgh impact other than it sparks a little when under a heavy load....but it's not like I'm using it in a flammable environment so I'm ok with that.

Love some Harbor Freight...

If you're into woodworking, you should check out their Pocket Hole Jig. Just picked one up last week and it's a great tool for the price. Was looking at the Kreg jig for $120 at Lowes, but this one was $65 ($50.00 with my 25% coupon). It's all metal and very nicely built.

For mechanic type tools, I'm a big fan of Kobalt at Lowes. Good pricing and a lifetime, hassle-free warranty.

I'm already a kreg owner. I do need some files though. Wonder if HF will suffice.

Their angle grinders are hit or miss. But when you get a good one, I would put it against any brand. Seriously.

I buy tons of stuff from harbor freight.

Their high-end air tools are pretty good, but are priced accordingly.

shite like wrenches, sockets, etc are extremely good values there.

I must have one of those. I'll cherish it.

I have a harbor freight grinder that I got on sale for like $5 about 14 years ago. Still works great. Now, I'm not going to pretend I use it often, but when I do, it works.

I also have one of their small drill presses. Works fine for my limited use. If I had a professional shop of some sort, I probably wouldn't fill it with HF tools. But, for around the house stuff, I think a lot of it is a great deal.

I wouldn't buy a harbor freight vehicle or log splitter, but simple and relatively expensive tools I don't see why it's a terrible idea. If you catch stuff on sale it's really cheap. I consider most of that stuff almost a one-time use tool, but for stuff that would cost $50 to rent for a couple days at Home Depot, I'd rather buy one for $30 and risk it lasting a couple days. If it breaks on the first day you can return it.

This. If it lasts one use you basically got your money's worth. If it lasts longer (and a lot of them do), it's gravy.

I bought a pack of their files to use as I was on the road for work and needed one ASAP and the HF was right beside where we were working. They are kind of ugly but seem to work just as well as my Nicholson files in my tool box at home.

They have a $15 plane that with a little honing works really great.

Preciate the review. I'm working on a little project right now. I think I'll swing by and pick some files up this evening.

I have a 8" drill press of theirs. No complaints. I had a 15 year old Delta 8" drill press that died. Put them side by side and they looked 97% the same.

Only thing I've ever had break from there is my air compressor, but I got several years of maintenance free use before it happened.

My husband has bought several Chicago Tools and he has been really surprised at how long they have lasted. I don't think one of them has broken and he has had them for several years and done lots of projects. He has tried to wear out the hammer drill he bought there and it just takes a beating and keeps on going. Hope this helps.
