Yall act as if it takes zero ability to manage a heard even inside of a high fence.

It really doesn't take much. I can manage a herd of Herefords in a fence too. Doesn't prove squat. Just don't come bragging when you have huge cows.

The guys in Texas laugh at all you silly fricks who spend hours and hours on public land to watch a deer who will probably be shot by some coonass fricktard the minute after you let him pass

You mean the rich assholes laugh at the poor guys. That's just because they're assholes.

Well if you wanna take it that far, than all hunting in south la is bullshite by your measure, because after all, there are flood control structures all over the state.

...and all those guys that hunt and fish Toledo Bend need to get their priorities straight and get serious about becoming real "sportsmen".

Exactly, Toledo is man made, so I guess we can throw all those fish out of the record books.

I've never done it. But I would like to try it one day. I don't think it would be as fun as low fenced hunting.

Our lease is right on side of a high fenced place. And I've seen some of those deer from the road and they are monsters. I think the adrenaline rush from killing one would make up for the fact that it is essentially on a leash.

Not arguing with you, just probably not making my point well.

If you want to work hard on a high fenced area that's great. I don't think you HAVE to do so, but you can. However, there are a lot of things that take hard work. Busting rocks takes hard work, not necessarily skill. Hard work =/= hunting.

Depends how many acres are high fence. 300 acres...... cheating, 10,000 acres..... pretty fair

I agree with this

This is why I need to get back to Mississippi ASAP.

I've never killed a deer in LA anyway, so all mine are legit.

They have a 2000 acre high fence a couple miles form where we hunt, every year they find these dead bucks that they have never seen on stand or on camera. So seems they can still hide somewhat.

Was on a "meat hunt" (exotic does) a number of years ago in Texas, and things were slow on the 3000 acre low fence, so the owner let us go on the 1500 acres that is high fenced. Despite there being an entire Axis herd in that "pen", it took 2 days to get a chance at anything, and that was a circus shot (cough modestly) to take one down. Every bit as challenging as any of the stalks I have made on low fence places, with both a lot tougher than hunting a good feeder or food plot and waiting for them to come to you. So, I don't judge.

I have a friend whose family has 6800 acres fenced.

They have 45 food plots (4-5 acres each) and about 1100 acres are in mature hardwoods. The rest is in a mixture of planted pines and pastures and some CRP land.

They probably put out 50-60 game cameras.

I am always amazed it is rare that a buck is shot that we can find on camera. Lots of deer killed that are not on film and lots of deer on film that are never killed.

(they kill what the biologist tells them to kill every year)

I also feel like duck hunting pit blinds in flooded fields or areas with pumps to control water level is analogous to guys hunting deer inside of high fences. Butts will hurt, but sorry, it's not natural habitat.
