What do yall think the rules are about posting a pic of a buddy of mine with 30 pellets in him 10 days after it happened? In fairness, you can see the top of his right arse cheek....

Shot my cousins m4 (first time shooting this kind of platform) and I remember complaining about how loud it was. Shot again and I'll be damned if the first round plugged in the end of the barrel and the second one split the barrel from the gas block all the way to the receiver. Didn't notice at first and almost shot a third time. Thankfully me and my cousin noticed it at the same time. I was shaking for a good while after that one.

My Uncle had a 30-30 laid across the seat of my 4-wheeler to shoot at a target. After the first shot, he stood up to chamber another and the hammer dropped. He blew the headlight off the wheeler. My brother and I were 3 foot away. I took the gun from him and scolded him like a child. Of course we laugh about it now, but I was pissed.

Only thing close as as a 12 year old. I was shooting my single shot 22 in the backyard. My pop was working on a fence out in the pasture but about 400 yards out and 200 yards to the right and on the other side of a hill from where I was. He could hear the bullets in the air but not the shot. Guess they were tumbling after passing through the box or whatever I was shooting.

He honked the horn on the truck and I knew to stop.

I was on the receiving end of a near miss. I was sitting in the foyer of the frat house between classes, a guy was fooling around with a .38 in his room upstairs. It went off, the bullet came through the ceiling, ricocheted off the floor and ended up who knows where.

I guess that would touch off a campuswide lockdown nowadays. Back then, guns on fraternity row were commonplace. And not everybody knew how to handled them.

Net exactly a "mishap", but when I was a young kid, I put a 12 ga shotgun shell atop my upward pointing air rifle to see if a BB would set off the primer....it did.

When I was 19 I was talking to my stupid cousin that had just dropped my grandfather's Sweet Sixteen in the mud and halfass cleaned the barrel out with a stick.
I was sitting in my truck with my ex and he was sitting on a 3 wheeler.
I told him he better clean that barrel and not shoot again because even if you can see daylight it stick may explode the barrel.
Here comes the stupid part.
Without a warning he clicks the gun off safety and pulls the trigger.
I saw a flash and heard the bb's hit the roof of a barn about 50 yards away.
That gun was within 3 feet from my face.
Neither he nor I was hit with any bb's.
Chalk that up to God, because had the barrel blew in my direction I would have been a goner...

Know a Marine from the Gulf War. Was racking the bolt on a m60 and it went off. Said about 100 Iraqis came up out from behind a sand fine and surrendered.

Shite, that reminds me, not firearm related, but....
Was young, of course, saw a Ramset cartridge laying on a concrete porch while walking by. Had a hammer in my hand so I decided to see if it would fire when hit. I missed the first time but went back for seconds. Still have a numb spot in my right forefinger.
