My father in law took a gun from my brother in law and didn't check it. Shot a hole through the wall into the next condo ... A new TV later

Thank God my only "mishap" was I forgot to put on hearing protection when trying out a new shotgun once. Man those things are loud. Scared the crap out of me.

20 or so years ago, pulled the hammer back on a 30/30 on a six point, and decided to let him walk. While lowering the hammer with my thumb, it slipped off. Gun went off, deer ran off, my bowls ran off....

Had the guy standing next to me AD his Kimber 1911 standing at the display counter. That'll get your blood pumping.

Some old woman muzzled me at Precision the other day with her .380. She almost took a Glock slide to the forehead, the door busts open and a guy from the front chews her a new one.

You go on the list of people I do not want to be around when guns are present. NOBODY should have that many AD's. I have never had one at all.

but I'm a firm believer that there is no such thing as an accidental discharge. Maybe its from the military, but I was always taught/told there's nothing accidental about a discharge, a gun just doesn't go off. Negligent...yes...accidental...no.

Two popular items found on many forums are, ejecting a shell to clear the chamber and the primer strikes the ejector setting the round off and the other is executing proper technique when dropping the hammer via a decocker and the the firing pin block fail setting off the round.

Would both of those be negligent also?

Was probably 15 years old and was jacking all the bullet out of a 22 magnum pump. don't know if I pulled the trigger or what all I know is I shot through 4 walls in the house luckily nobody was home.

Had a friend around the same time take the lead out of 00buckshot and hit the primer on a nail. burnt his hqnd pretty good

I've never had one myself but my brother in law got my kid brother with #6 shot while rabbit hunting a few years back.

My brother had never been before and didn't understand the importance of staying put or letting someone know he moved when hunting extremely thick briars that you can't see through. Two pellets made it 50 yards through the briars , penetrated briar pants and blue jeans, and still had enough energy to completely pass through his upper calf(which at 6'1 340# is a pretty thick calf muscle).
