This LDWF news release was just posted. Rather disturbing news when an LDWF agent is injured from a shooting.

(LDWF News) LDWF Agent Shot Multiple Times in Morehouse Parish:
A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agent was shot in the line of duty while on patrol in Morehouse Parish in the early morning hours of Jan. 7.

At 2:06 a.m. Senior Agent Tyler Wheeler, 25, of Monroe, performed a vehicle stop in the south bound lane of Hwy. 165 in between Sterlington and Bastrop in the Perryville area. During the vehicle stop, Wheeler was shot multiple times.

Another LDWF agent was a short distance from the traffic stop and arrived on scene around 2:15 a.m. when he found Wheeler on the ground. He was able to radio a distress call to LDWF dispatch, secure the scene, notify local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and render assistance to Wheeler.

EMS arrived on scene and were able to stabilize Wheeler and prepare him for air transport. Wheeler was airlifted around 4 a.m. to the LSU Health Shreveport Trauma Center for immediate treatment. It is unknown at this time the extent of Wheeler’s injuries.

Authorities are currently looking for the shooting suspect at this time. Louisiana State Police will be handling the investigation into the shooting with assistance from the LDWF Enforcement Division.

Wheeler has been an LDWF agent for two and a half years and is married with one child.

Ridiculous.

Tyler is one of my little brother's closest friends, almost like one of the family. Super great guy. I couldn't believe what I was reading when mom text me this morning that he had been shot. Just goes to show that it can happen anywhere and thug POS are in more places than the inner cities. Mayberry just doesn't exist anymore.
Prayers going up for him, his family, and his wife and baby.

Prayers to that young man and his loved ones. And to the shooters, lady liberty is about to kill whatever hopes you had at a normal life. May you rot in a jail cell for the rest of your life.

"Senior" agent at 25? Seems young to me, but I'm 48.
Either way, prayers to him and his family. Hope the POS that did this gets stomach cancer and dies a slow miserable lingering death.

That's actually Northeast Louisiana, not Northwest.

Scary to think that most people they come in contact with have a gun. Then some jackass decides to shoot him instead of taking his tickets and confiscation for night hunting. Hope he pulls through and they catch the piece of shite that did it,I won't be mad if they put a bullet in his sorry arse.
