I have secured some private land in South East/Central Kansas for this season. They grow corn, is along a river and has some wooded areas. Never hunted Ks before. What should I expect?

Probably not worth the trip. I'll hunt it for you just to make sure no one trashes the place.

Where is this land exactly?
Exactly

So, the land is in one of the best deer hunting states, it has a food source, has a water source, and has a source for bedding and protection
Bro, this is not a subtle brag

I would need a good week or two worth of hunts (preferably in Nov or Dec) to get up there and really see what you got. Shoot me the address

Rifle or bow?
These are all DIY private land archery bucks from Eastern Kansas.

Bucks act like they’re supposed to. Rattle and grunt. They’ll come. Most of the spots you look at on google earth will be good stand spots. It doesn’t take much cover to hold deer. Very few trees you can climb.

Honestly wasn't..
Guess I didn't think of it that way!
I've hunted Tensas down here the last two years and public land Elk/Deer in Colorado.
Honestly fell into this and hope I get drawn. Will be talking to more land owners this summer in hopes to get a few more acres in this area..
Not sure it holds a lot of big deer but, the guy that I know personally (Owners best friend) told me that it hasn't been hunted in a good while and it holds deer.
We are going to Bow Hunt it a few weeks, no guns allowed and must take 1:1 kill ratio

So Loc-Ons are better suited?
Those are some really good deer you killed. Man I hope to see some that look like that!

Bingo!! This is why it makes absolutely no sense to get a lease in Kansas. You got this big beautiful piece of property leased up with giant bucks running around everywhere and you don’t have a tag because you didn’t get drawn.

How many years have you drawn for?
Is it easier to get drawn as a group? Does it matter?

My buddy gets drawn every single year. Kills big bucks. Rifle every year.

I've hunted central Kansas for the last 3 years. Find cover (CRP, tree lines, and esp if you can find a cluster of hardwood) and you will find deer. Obviously hunt between cover and food. Some deer trails are so heavily used they look like cow trails. One day you may see 30 deer the next you may see 1. I find we see a ton of yearlings. Killed a nice buck last year hunting behind a friends grandmother's house. It was one of those days where I only saw one deer too.
Oh and tons of geese and mallard

Lock ons for sure. Maybe pack a 15’ ladder stand. We had a few trees we could climb and always took one climber. Our best stand was in a cedar tree.

Kansas archery draw odds are really, really good. I would rather hunt Kansas whitetails once ever 3 years than a lot of place down south every year.
That said, Kansas is definitely putting the screws to nonres hunters at over $500 for an archery whitetail tag - for not much more you can buy a rifle elk tag in Montana, also with extremely good odds.
