President Trump just ordered the Justice Department not to appeal a Texas ruling that guts key National Firearms Act restrictions on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns.
U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix already ruled those registration rules unconstitutional after Congress zeroed out the NFA tax in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Not machine guns.
Not explosives.
Not felons getting a free pass.
Law-abiding Americans. Covered groups and members. Ninety years of ATF paperwork tyranny taking a body blow.
DOJ says it will tell Congress it will not appeal. ATF says guidance is coming.
The Constitution is not optional.

So building a SBR is ok, if I use a Palmetto state armory lower and I'm a GOA member?

I'm a GOA member in a free state and I converted my SA Saint. That whole PSA thing is a misinterpretation of the ruling, maybe only applies to very specific individuals in certain states but certainly not across the board. Just like you don't have to be a customer of a particular brand of suppressor.

I haven't been following very closely to all of this because it usually changes so often I can't keep up. So, with this ruling you can put a stock on a pistol if you are a GOA member and it's good? Is it a legal SBR or is it just a gun? Meaning do you have to engrave it and is it limited crossing state lines without the paperwork?

According to Erich Pratt, GOA, if you live in one of the 27 states that don't have their own applicable laws and are a party to one of the prevailing organizations or a client of one of the companies that were parties to this ruling, no Form 1 for a SBR/SBS. That also means the engraving/serializing requirements are moot as there is no enforceable registration requirements at all. The ruling didn't carve out a specific differentiation for suppressors vs SBR/SBS, if a suppressor can be transferred over a 4473 alone then so can the others. Think people are confused as there are plenty of suppressor companies and you could find FFL's with displays of them, not so much SBR's or SBS's but that should conceivably change.

One weird one is the home construction of suppressors in louisiana.

No businesses that I know of are selling SBRs under the 4473 form. It’s suppressors only. It’s still Form 4 only.

Good. This was always the plan once Congress did a half measure and removed the tax. fricking Congress should have just handled this

People need to realize that the second amendment, in fact, all of the bill of rights, do not grant people ANY rights. They are ALL RESTRICTIONS on the government. They tell the government what it can not do.

If the DOJ isn’t appealing this that means they will be dropping the NFA across the country.
Unless you’re in TX I don’t know of any gun stores that are willing to sell a silencer solely on a normal background check.
So be patient and the ATF will have rules out soon that will open things up.

form 1's are for manufacturing,, (individual building a sbr or supressor) form 4's for transfer. If you buy a complete factory built SBR from a shop, that is a form 4
