Just got back from 5 days in SW Utah (Zion, Bryce, and Grand Staircase)

Took a break and went out to Southwest Utah to explore the National Parks and National Monuments. A few photos to recap:
Bryce Canyon National Park
Spent two days in Bryce hiking the Rim Trail, Fairyland Loop through the Hoodoos, and driving to a few other viewpoints overlooking the scenery...
Bryce from Sunset Point:
Zion National Park
We did two days in Zion. One day in the Kolob Canyon area in the far northwest of the park, and the other in the Zion Canyon (most popular) area...
Ephermal Waterfall during rainstorm on the Taylor Creek Trail (Kolob):
>
End of the Taylor Creek Trail at the Double Arch Alcove:
>
Hiking/Climbing up the Angel's Landing Trail (1200ft. to Zion canyon floor):
On the start of the descent from Angel's Landing:
Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
Spent our last day hiking the slot canyons/narrows at Willis Creek Canyon and Bull Valley Gorge. The photo below is from Bull Valley Gorge. There's one I don't have on my phone that's of a truck from the 1950's that ran off the road and got stuck in the top of the gorge...the rescue crew left it because it was wedged too tight.

Do it. It's such a surreal sight.
We flew into St. George and stayed there. Vegas is 2.5 hours from Zion and where most fly into. Hotel was in St. George,Mainly to maximize affordability of the trip using hotel points. But there are plenty of places to stay in Springdale (at Zion entrance) and Bryce Canyon City. Zion is about 45 minutes from St. George and Bryce is an hour from Zion. Grand Staircase is another 30 minutes from Bryce.

That looks incedible. You'd have to be pretty ballsy to hike some of those trails. With my luck I'd slip and fall into the canyon below.

My cousin was a park ranger at Zion for a short while and we did a vegas/zion trip last summer. The park is absolutely amazing. Everywhere you look the scenery is unreal. I could have spent the whole trip at zion and skipped vegas.

Incredible. Did all of that as a child, Dad just finished converting the slides to digital. Have to get their with my offspring. Soon!

I remember enjoying it more than the Grand Canyon out there. I was like 12 when I went. I want to go back some day. Most people seem to have never heard of Zion or Bryce canyons.
That one area with all the natural bridges as far as the eye can see was just amazing.

Nice! We used to go out there a lot when we were in College. We've hiked and stayed in the backcountry on both the East Rim trail as well as the Kolob Arch trails.
Zion is probably one of my favorite NPs. I regret that we never really got to do a big hike up the Narrows. We always wanted to get as far away from the crowds as possible, and the Narrows tends to get a lot of people during Spring Break.

When we went the entrance to the narrows trail had a ton of people just chilling in the river. You have to really watch for flash flooding in some of the park areas. Last summer someone died in the narrows when a rain storm flooded it. My cousin had to do regular rescues on the trails since most people were not prepared for how strenuous some of the trails get.

Wife and I went. There was a guy's trip we passed on the way up Angels Landing with Ole Miss apparel. He got a "go to hell Ole Miss"

These were all taken with an iPhone6. I think one of them was brightened. But the rest are just straight from my phone.
We probably took 500 shots on the DSLR that we haven't even gone through yet.

Is this trip possible as a family trip? Like one that includes a six year old, girl. Or is it way too much hiking for that age group.
