17-19 yr olds blasting at anything they see with blacked out faces and the new expensive DC calls. Literally shooting at seagulls and tweety birds.

Weather DD is to blame or not, duck hunting is way more trendy now than 10-15 years ago. There were 28 rigs at Cypress Lake In Bossier Parish, Saturday morning for the East zone opener. At least double what was there previous years. All those people on +\-300 huntable acres. Glad I wasn't involved in that cluster. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to go back to late 80's-early 90's limits for a few years to thin the herd a little bit, IMHO.

Gortex and neoprene are the main two reasons for this. Ban these two things and watch the crowds thin out. Make everybody hunt in leaky arse canvas waders and some Walls overalls. And some old cotton arse gloves. Then you'll see the real hunters.

That's very true. I remember as a kid hunting (deer, rabbit Squirrel, not Duck) in cotton long johns and jeans with several layers of cotton with a USMC shirt as a jacket. Single layer rubber boots too. We froze our buts off until good base layers, and thermax was invented. Hunting equipment has improved a lot in 30 years.

I would diff be down for a decrease in the limits for a couple of years. If the 5yr forecast is correct we could be seeing that anyway.

And no blind heaters! Ban all these things on public land. Then watch the duck numbers rise!

ETA-private too.

I think people worry about it tooo much. It is what it is. So what if it draws some new folks into duck hunting. More people on our side.

Insecure people who worry what others will think about La, etc. Probably some of the same people who watch MTV reality shows.

There's nothing wrong with DD. I see how i can be entertaining for some folks. .
