Got a couple that are made with pressed paper. Got one from the early 1940's, hand carved and a few hard plastic ones from the late 1950's, early 1960's.
As a kid, my Dad made his own and each fall I remember him painting them. Just wished I had them now.
Way back in the day when my Dad was around 22-25, he was a commercial Duck Hunter. Had a pirogue with a punt gun mounted in it. Used to sell the birds in the Quarters in New Orleans.

I keep it on my wader jacket and vest.
They're not near overused like the ducks unlimited logo. I like drakes a lot though, it's clean. Unfortunately it is the duck hunting version of browning.
Sucks when good brands can be viewed negatively because their logos turn them into lifestyle brands.

I'm from NLa and didn't know who Phil was the majority of my time hunting up there. I did have a couple of their calls.
I'm not butt-hurt. I watch the show with my family who all laugh together knowing it's scripted.
Now in NOLA, I rarely even hear about them unless I mention where I'm from or there's a thread about them here. I also haven't noticed an increase in the hunters down here, but I'm not on private land.
I also have Drake products. They do their job. But I don't have their logo on anything but their products, nor any duck commander logos

I'm not a big duck hunter and own a drake pullover. It keeps me warm and that's why I wear it. Bought it when I was out of town and it was the only thing in the store that wasn't camo

If people lived by this then the world would be a lot better off, but it would be the end of internet message boards.

I've still got an unfired wax paper shell from one sitting on the mantle at the camp. Newbs ask us about it and we tell them they have to use that gun their first day in the blind.
