Is it worth the money at retail costs? No, but nowadays not much is. Retail costs for many items are high especially outdoor recreation items. Last year I basically switched all my gear over to first lite but only purchased when they had a sale or I had some sort of coupon code. And birthday and Christmas gifts.

I personally love it. The merino base layers and mid layers are awesome. The packable puffy insulating jackets/pants work great to allow me to carry in an extra layer at not much weight. I plan on using all this for elk/mule deer hunts out west this year but have used it all season for deer/ducks in LA.

Worth the money" to me would mean its better than anything on the market by a distance great enough to equal the $$ value between it and the next comparable product. That answer is NO. There are plenty of products that are as good as or close to Sitka gear depending on application.

High end anything is generally taking very small improvements for a lot more money. Take a car for example, a Hyundai will do 90% of what say a Ferrari will do but that 10% costs a lot and more importantly people are willing to pay a lot for it. That top 10% is also often times the ones pushing the market the hardest to improve and advance.

Sitka may not be worth it to you or me financially, but to someone that doesn’t blink at the price...could be different story.

Sitka makes high quality gear. That said, I wouldn't pay retail price for what they offer.

Mid-October in Wyoming. Temp in the teens, 6” of snow, 40 kt winds. Worth it.
All LA deer season last year. Worth it.

Buy what suits you. I like to keep my stuff for a long time. It stinks to have sorry gear for a long time.

Last piece of Columbia I had was great. Had it for years and loved it. A guide's dog chewed it up and he replaced it with a top of the line Drake that he was sponsored by.

I wasn't disappointed when it was destroyed and needed to be replaced. I took my time, tried on stuff, read reviews and shopped for deals.

I bought a Sitka Delta Wading Jacket. After wearing it for a season, I'll be in the market for more pieces.

This. The negative is the camo pattern isn't very good for waterfowl.

I bought some this year and for hunting my farm in a box, not really. For hunting a climber or loc-on especially on public land yes.

The Sitka technology allows it to keep you warm without the bulk. Layering allows you to wear what you need when you need it.

Worth every penny if you like to hunt long sits on cold days.

not worth investing in Fanatic bibs that you'll rarely use

Talk to me like I am a four year old

I am not being sarcastic. What has sitka done differntly in the layering game that hansnt been known or done in the last 50 years

I have hunted up north plenty of times in the teens since the 90s. Layering was always a known thing. I have stayed warm and comfortable with layering gear all supplied by Academy and places similar. I just dont understand what they are doing scientifically different to keep you warmer.

You could get away with 1 base layer, 1 mid layer, and an outer layer when you would be wearing a base, 2-3 mids, and an outer in Academy clothes

It's Walmart boots vs Lacrosse/Muck. Kia vs Lexus. Etc

I have tried sitka when I fished with Travis Lovell before. He let me wear his gear.

And I just dont agree with your statement. No big deal. And honestly, what could make that true? Unless they invented a new material or something else it doesnt even make sense.

But I am not one to talk bad about others for spending money, as I have about $5000 worth of lures that is completely unnecessary

That depends on what gear it was that you were wearing honestly.

Like I mentioned before, my gear I use for September Elk in the mountains sucks for sitting still in a tree. It's made to be light and keeps you from sweating a ton when walking a lot. Not for sitting still 4+ hours

well i really just want new bibs that zip all the way up. because i have to trek out without my top layer on or i will start sweating. so im look for an affordable set of zip up bibs.
