I want to get some stuff I can wear in East TX or in Colorado that will hold up and won’t weigh me down. I know kuiu and Sitka are great options with an unlimited budget, but can I get away with going cheaper for comparable quality?

I bought $1200 worth of stuff from Badlands during their 50% off sale last fall and will do it again this year if they have a 50% off sale again. I went heavy last year on my bibs and jacket with some under garments. This year I’ll go medium weight or light weight setup.

I’ll try and post the sale if I remember because I’ve been really happy with their stuff.

Cheap, lightweight and warm. You can only pick 2.

I regret not getting in one that badlands deal.

Hope they do it again this year and I find out about it on here.

I invested in Kuiu over a couple of seasons. Bought used. Tried stuff out. Sold what didn’t fit or I didn’t like. I haven’t spent a whole lot this way. Rokslide and some Facebook group (I don’t have it but heard it was good) is where I bought my used stuff.

I have some badlands stuff and it’s decent, but not on the same level as the Sitka stuff I have. If you’re going to CO this year and need everything then I’d give badlands a hard look. If this is for a hypothetical trip in the future, then start slowly accumulating Sitka/kuiu a piece or two at a time.

Check out blackovis and camofire for sales on last years versions.

I have some KUIU and First Lite. My dad has Sitka and Under Armor Ridge Reaper. I'm pretty impressed with the UA RR stuff. I can tell you this, the Barren pattern of the Ridge Reaper stuff is the best came pattern out there. When my dad has it on i lose him if he isn't moving.

First lite, Skre , kryptek , canis , Gulch Gear...

I have badlands and First lite , but I will probably stop buying FL. Although, those are all good choices.

Just personal choice. I was a Rinella fan from long ago. But slowly as his notoriety began to rise and he became more popular and made more money , meateater bought FL. I just feel like they are pushing products (I understand everyone has to make a living). And also the Chernin group are involved with meateater.

"Chernin Group owns a minority equity stake in MeatEater Inc. but in terms of governance has the controlling interest. Other stakeholders include Rinella, MeatEater Inc. CEO Kevin Sloan and Zero Point Zero Production, which produces “MeatEater” for Netflix"

The Chernin group is no sportsmans friend. I suggest people look up Peter Chernin and form a opinion. I would also suggest looking at Backcountry hunters and anglers leaders voting records. If you listen to podcasts I would listen to Kifarucast episodes where he interviews backcountry hunters and anglers and another episode labelled "non profits".

I am sure First Lite is still making good products (Those zip off long john's look great) and I will continue to use what I own of theirs, but that is the main reason why I will be looking elsewhere when I need to buy more clothing.

As mentioned before join Rokslide and start picking up used items. Resell what doesn't fit or you don't like. Tons of good deals there. I've never gotten anything ragged out from a member there.
