about 6 or so years ago I saw wasp going in the eve of my house in the front of the house. Went up to the attic and found a nest that was about the size of a baseball.

Mixed up some spray and would hit it, drop the sprayer and run.

I did that about 10 times before there was no more movement.

Last time I got hit was about 3-4 years ago by a yellow jacket.

Had some of those big Yellow/urnge striped ones living in the wall a few years back. Stung me just because and I spent Fathers Day looking like the elephant man.
Finally got rid of them but still see one occasionally.

Satan's spawn.

We had this tree we always used to climb as kids, it had fallen and rested on another tree almost at a 45 degree angle so we could shimmy up it or walk if you were brave enough.

I got to the top one day and met a yellow jacket nest. I had to shimmy down the tree while those bastards were popping me all over the place.

My brother hit a yellow jacket nest on the mower. He bailed off, left the damn thing running in gear and everything. Lawnmower stayed there running, blades on against a tree tires still pushing until it ran out of gas

I'm always afraid I will turn out like this every time I spray a nest.

I have always been more afraid of wasps than snakes. Used to have nightmares where they were under the covers in my bed, Would wake up in a panic, and be afraid to move.

I was allergic to their stings as a kid. parents had to keep a prescription for Benadryl in case I got stung. I got stung a lot every summer.

Burning them out is a fun activity 30 years ago.

Total assholes.

I was trimming back some bushes a few years ago and a couple of those bastards got me on the top of my head. It hurt so bad I thought I was going blind for a while.

I'd rather run up on a snake than a damn pissed off wasp nest.

You can hit a snake in the head with a stump. When a wasp decides he wants your arse, you're done for.

End of story.

Yellow Jackets get into my chimney flue every year. I now start a fire, open the flue and watch those frickers fall into the fire.

I'll be armed with wasp spray and fly swatter for the escapes

Well frick. Now I wish I never would've started this thread. I've been seeing wasps in my living room lately and I can't figure out where they're coming from. I bet it's from my damn fireplace. I keep forgetting to close it and every time I remember, I'm not home or am in bed and too lazy to do it.
Now I'll have to start a fire in it I guess. I'm terrified of them flying out though. Doesn't smoke calm them down a lot?

I wait till the first cold snap so they are slowed down already. That's why the frickers just fall into the fire.

The solid red ones don't nest in the open like the regular red wasps with dark abdomen. They find a crack and go up into the eaves. Some get lost and end up inside. Sometimes you can go into an attic and shine down into those areas and find gigantic nests. Do not put a pot planted wax myrtle up there.

Got stung on my chest by a yellow jacket trimming hedges last year.....it literally felt like someone punched me. At first I thought a piece of branch slung out of the clippers and hit me or something...then I saw the stinger and the bastards flying around.
