Inshore Spinning Reel Advice?

Hoping to get back to GI in mid-December for some ditch fishing. I’d like to upgrade my current set-up and grabbed a St. Croix Triumph but can’t decide on the reel. I’m looking at the following makes/models:
Shimano Stradic FL
Shimano Miravel
Penn Spinfisher VI
Daiwa BG Salt
Help me spend my money.
ETA - updated thread title for type of reel I’m looking for
ETA 2 - also looking to buy my 13 year old son his first “nice” rod & reel for this trip. It will be a Christmas gift.

My advice is to get a decent bait caster, you can feel the subtle winter bite much better than with a spinning real. I like braided line also so you can feel the bite.

Daiwa BG Salt
My order goes:
Daiwa Saltist
Shimano Stradic
Daiwa BG
Shimano Miravel
Penn anything

what are you planning on doing with this combo?
1. tight-line with plastics
2. popping cork with plastic/live bait
3. a little of both

Daiwa spinning take some abuse. As good as Shimano easily.

Unfortunately I’m terrible with those. I’d do better with a Snoopy kid’s rig.

Sorry, meant the BG.

It’s my understanding we will be fishing plastics exclusively.

Buy one and get in the backyard every afternoon and practice!

All I fish are Stradics, gave up on non-shimano gear as they just never seem to last.

quote:My list stands as far as features of reel. The BG is indestructible and one of best values on the market. The Stradic is nicer and smoother but won't take the abuse of a BG. For your use it's more than fine. I'd also throw out the BG MQ if you're looking at Stradic prices. I'm a Daiwa fan for egg beaters and shimano fan for baitcast/conventional.

Stradic gets my vote.

Guys thanks for all the recs so far, please keep them coming.

I have a BG for popping cork and a Stradic that I bring for windy days when I don't want to deal with a baitcaster. They are both great. I wouldn't want to use the BG outside of the popping cork rig.
I'd rather use the Stradic. But, the BG is a great value for $99 (less if you look around) and it pairs well with the cork setup.

Daiwa or Shimano for sure. Narrow down to a few models within your general price range then start looking and waiting for any sales on those models. That is if you have a little time. Those Stradics and Saltist are really nice reels. I am unfamiliar with the Miravel. The BG is really the best value and a solid reel in its own right.

Okuma ITX are great reels for that price and not as bulky/heavy as the BG
