The Kimber 84 or 8400 are attractive rifles. I have one in 300wsm that shoots well.

The Winchester Super Grade is nice as well

Both around 1,200.00

The OB doesn't seem to like Kimber rifles, and appears neutral on the Model 70.
Back in '11 I bought a 700 CDL , but those two rifles were considered. A part of me wishes I have gone with either of them. I like my 700 enough though.

I don't like the swing safety and internal mag. They may offer detachable mags now though.

we dropped Christensen. We used to move them pretty well, but they're like the Kimbers - a lot of them just dont shoot well. When they jacked up their MSRPs, we cut them.

So my best bet seems to be a T3x hunter.

What kind of optic would you recommend for it? Hunting relatively thick, North Eastern woods. Probably never take a shot longer than 300 yards

$700 is the top. Though I can be flexible.

Still gonna catch hell deciding but narrowed it down a good bit. No to browning, weatherby or Remington.

I'm a big Sako and Tikka fan but the Bergara B-14 HMR In 6.5 Creedmoor is definitely worth looking at and can be had for $1,000 or less.

Fondled one recently. It is another great choice. It's very good for the money imo.

Savage 114 American Classic custom ordered in .25-06 Remington. Spend part of the remaining $4-500 on ammo and the rest laughing at $1200 hunting rifles

Montana Rifle Co. makes quality shite. I bet he can get that rifle for close to his budget.

ETA - Oh shite it won't work, OP wants a wood stock. That will blow his budget with MRC.
