I’m torn on buying another now. On one hand, it sure would be nice if they’d do away with the stamp and save $200
On the other hand, if they do that, demand goes bananas and it will be awful to try and find one.
Doesn’t help my patience that approvals are averaging 2-3 days now

I wonder if that is because someone knows they are headed off so they are trying to get as many $200 taxes collected as possible.

It would literally take an “act of Congress” to remove the tax and the registry.
What ridiculous is the background check. It’s the same one conducted for regular firearms. The wait we all endure is time it takes for the agents to enter it into the actual registry.

They’ll initially be extremely expensive because they will immediately sell out and there won’t be enough product to keep up with demand. It will take a little while for the manufacturers to ramp up production to meet demand and drive prices down.

Serious question, do any of the current companies offering them have patents on the designs?

You will see prices drop considerably

For a year or 2 they would be very expensive hen's teeth until mfg. catches up. Would be a lot of solvent trap oil filter cans in the meantime.

Govt wont give up that $200 racket.
Without looking it up, it’s got to be Hundreds of millions of dollars

While many traditional baffled cans are still largely based on old 1930s and 1990s baffle designs and patents, the newer 3d printed variants are all quote unique and have their own patents.
With 3d printing, you are not limited to CNC machining, welding and traditional mechanical angles. The print variants are often lighter and more efficient.
Suppressor manufacturing in the last 4-5 yrs has probably advanced more than they did in the previous 4-5 decades. There are now even hybrid inconel/titanium cans with almost no backpressure, and approaching what was previously thought to be impossible levels of weight to noise to length ratios.
It's big business now, and the NFA was created by an act of Congress and can only be undone by an act of Congress. No matter what kind of hopes the internet has for unregulating the items, it will never happen. Even with a R, House, Senate and White House.
Congress is all talk and zero action. They could have put forth legislation a month ago, but didn't. That's all you need to know.

Well, I got both my approvals back this morning, just under 7 days. Not bad, going to have to buy another to celebrate
