And there are 50 people standing around to hear it. How loud is it?

Really, really, really loud.

Standing in line at the gun counter at Van's Sporting Goods in Brandon, MS just now and a guy fired into the ceiling.

Van came out of the back and said: "Well, 23 years it was bound to happen!"

Someone else added: "Of course it's gonna rain tonight."

Y'all be careful out there.

Same reason you go to a gun show and they check your firearm.

Twice I've been in line and people said they unloaded it. Cop checks the weapon and a round pops out.

fricking twice.

This happens EVERY WEEKEND when I work the check in desk at the range.

I don't work the desk every time I work but I imagine it happens multiple times to those guys as well.

The phrase most commonly uttered when a round comes flying out?

"Oh, I didn't think it was loaded."

Curious what he was doing when it fired? I’m guessing it was a gun a customer brought in and not one they were selling?

Maybe he was aiming it trying out a new sight or pad and pulled the trigger? Very easily could have killed somebody

That could possibly have gone real badly for a lot of people. Glad they were at least pointing it in a safe direction.

If I was the store owner, that hole stays there with a sign warning future customers.

I tried not to get involved. A bunch of people rushed over there and there was a bunch of shouting and finger pointing. So I stayed out of it.

But the story I heard was that it was a used gun. The clerk took it off the rack and handed it to the customer without checking it. Customer didn't check it. Put it on his shoulder. Dry fired it. Bang.

I could see this happening especially with a pump. Everyone checks the chamber, but not always the magazine. If it’s easy to chamber a round from the mag, customer screws around playing with the gun, shoulders it, and boom.

Exact thing that would happen to me daily while working at the gun range.
Of course, those same people would point the gun right at my head while saying "it's not loaded"

It’s ok everyone on here knows that fine shot is not deadly for home defense in ranges that you would see at your house .
Looks like it would have just stung a bit....

Ha oh I agree. Given that I check the mag myself or pump a couple times to clear it at least. But new gun, loud store, some excitement, I can see it happening. Definitely no excuse though at least 2 people should have cleared the gun before anyone pulled the trigger, someone at the store and the customer.
