What do yall like your pull weight to be? I have a rem 700 .30-06 I think I finally want to adjust the trigger on. I shot a buddy's gun who set his pull weight to 3.5lbs and it felt so much better than my trigger.

I have had the gun for about 15 years, so I am uncertain if it has an adjustable trigger or I will need to get a new trigger as well. What are some good gunsmiths in the NOLA area?

2.5-3 lbs is the sweet spot for me, but I haven't changed any of my personal rifles

My Tikka is at 2.5. My CZ has a set trigger which I have lowered to like 1.0. I prefer the CZ one.

I am assuming the gunsmith will have a trigger I can play around on to find my sweet spot?

And I am careful with guns, and always have the safety on. But what number would be so low it would cause a discharge by a light bump of the gun?

I have my 700 set to 2.5#. I really like it bu may go down to 2# just see how it feels.

I wouldn't go much under 2# for a hunting rig, especially if you where gloves. But that is just my opinion.

Don't go to a gun smith. Buy a Timney trigger and put it in. It is very easy and straight forward. The trigger is all in one so no worry of a spring fitting and fiddling with it to get in place. That is how I did mine. Then you can go to the range and see what poundage you prefer.

Honestly, my 700 trigger was right around 4.5-5. It was very inconsistent and the take up and back wall sucked. I saw a HUGE improvement with the Timney even with it set right around the same. It is crazy how much of a difference it makes to have a smooth consistent trigger with little take up and a hard back wall. night and day

I ordered a Geissele 2 stage for my 6.5cm.

don't have it yet, but it will be 2.3lbs on the take up and 1.2lbs break.

Kinda excited to see how it does.

Exactly what I did. It was a breeze to put in. Night and day difference between the Timney and the stock trigger than comes with your 700.

The gunsmith I brought mine to will do whatever but recommended 3-3.5lbs for hunting and lower than that for bench shooting. Did a trigger job on my ruger and he set it to a crisp 3# and it’s awesome. My CMC trigger in my grendel and my tikka are both 3.5 and that’s good for me too

Which Timney for a 700 BDL? This thread just got me to go over to the Timney site and the Calvin Elite looks like the one I want.

Calvin Elite can adjust to a lower weight than a regular timney and people say it has a better pull.

Check out triggertech triggers as well.

Heres a good rundown of popular rem 700 triggers.

Triggertech is not listed because they are newer company.

Yep. Jonathon is an easygoing, straightforward guy. Does amazing refinishing work, if anyone is looking for that.

I would! Without a doubt. Jonathan did a cerokote on my rifle and it looks great!
