I feel your pain. Hope you can feel better about him not being in pain.

We lost a Lab. I said no more pets due to the pain of losing them. One of my sons visited a pound and found the most chill dog we have ever had.. Sheds a ton but so what eh?

Sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is agonizing. Give yourself some time, and find a new friend. I've started adopting older dogs that most people don't want. They are super appreciative of a place to live.

A dog is the only thing in the world that loves you more than loves itself

From a poster who has already posted in this thread “the chapters of our lives are defined by the dogs that walk beside us”

Put my yellow lab down almost 2 years ago, she was truly special for many reasons, anyway put her down on Monday night, got a puppy Friday, best thing for us, the only cure for the heartbreak of losing a beloved dog is a big dose of puppy breath

Sorry for your loss. I've owned two Westies. The first died of Addisons at 7. The one I now own also has Addisons and is 6. She has good days and not so good days. I love those little dogs though.

I am very sorry for your loss and know it all too well. Being an ole fart I have ahd to do this 3 times and it never gets easier. I mourn for them but feel so honored to have them spend their lives with us. Think of the 14 years of joy and hapiness and over time you will realize its just part of Gods plan. Dogs lives are short but their souls burn brightly. The loss is worth all the joy they bring.

Very well said. I put down my best friend Friday and another ole girl Jan 31. Losing 2 in a short period of time is tough. 2 remain, ages 11 and 12. Won’t get any easier. Just enjoy them every day we have them.

Had to put Tuffy, my Catahoula cur, down about 25 years ago.
Neither me nor the missus has ever had the desire to get that attached to another dog.

I've seen my dad, in his mid 70's and was a general surgeon and ER doc, cry 3 times in my lifetime (In my 50's). Two of them where when he had to put a dog down.

Sorry about the loss of your pup, it's one of the hardest things we can do, but it's also one of the greatest gifts we can give our animals.

That's a great quote. Never had a sig on here, but that could be it.

Yeah no doubt a true piece of shite he is. I hope that the toilet paper he hordes was made out of the pulp wood of poison oak and poison ivy vines...
