Recently a massively expensive naval research vessel was named "Boaty McBoatface" as they allowed it to be named by popular vote.
Someone felt the need to create this version.
The reason I found it so funny for the research vessel was purely for emergency situations. Can you imagine making an SOS call, "This is the Captain of the Boaty McBoatface, we are in dire need of assistance. We've struck an iceberg and Boaty McBoatface is sinking."
How about the Coast Guard's response?
Perhaps I'm easily amused...

no it wasn't, they cancelled the public vote after that name was chosen. It was named RRS Sir David Attenborough
