I'm not sure what "results" you are asking for

Your hypothetical is too much like work

commerce is usually mentioned because carrying produce and merchandise is the usual public demand for such waters

Throw out the 1812 Map ... let's rely on the banana fed ex boat and the pelt carrying UPS raft. That makes sense.

Please just say you want to go fish where the fish are because the fish are there because the public didn't catch all of them. Cut to the chase.

I really don't get it, is it that troubling to catch fish on public waters?

In all cases it's for Bill as long as it has a proper permit and that it does not pose an environmental hazard (which will be attached to the permit) And I don't think the screen can be added. It most def cannot entrap the fish.

And hopefully Bill doesn't be offended when sport fish coalition call him names.

Because it's man made, same with man made canals. You get approval to create it from the government. Nature has to make it.

Will I get a prize? Let me take a stab in the dark.. toss a couple of darts at the ole Louisiana Land Triva Board.... gimme a minute to goolge it

The state by way of eminent domain claimed all navigable waters and sea shore upon entry into the Union in 1812. Every other square inch of the state was basically sold unless it was deemed section 16 property for development of schools etc. And some section 16 property was divided into lots and sold if a navigable water way claimed by the State in 1812 cut through it. So William ESQ and his pond is will still be part of the William ESQ private estsate even if he cuts through Bayou Hypo.

Wait, I thought we wanted access to all canals?

No, it is perfectly fine to catch your legal creel limit on all public waters of the State of Louisiana as long as you are properly licensed to do so.

Maybe I just think that Louisiana being the outlier when it comes to defining navigability has perpetrated a miscarriage of justice on its citizens to the benefit of a few wealthy landowners

I've only lurked this thread, because the topic has been debated forever.

I was with you, you were on the right track here, but....

What a bunch of dramatic BS.

You gonna start making me agree with Alx....and I like fishing in washed out marsh.

You may want to look at the law regarding drones flying over your house. It states that a drone cannot fly over your home if it is engaging in an act of spying such as photographing or audio recording. But the simple act of flying a drone over your home as long as the drone meets certain requirements that fall outside of FAA regulations so that most drones you purchase at best buy or Target are perfectly legal to fly over your neighbors home.

So you can use the canal to get from one place to the next, but you can't fish in it? I don't think that's what the proponents want

How about we all stop complaining to each other and direct this same energy and effort towards out elected officials and the press who can actually do something about it.....,

Same boat I'm in. I gotta agree with somebody from ellic because the arguments from the other side are so asinine that I can't be over there. And I'm pissed I can't fish where I want in golden meadow anymore but if I owned that land I'd be putting up huge gates and signs referencing this bill with vile language

These clowns get their way and my deer lease (which we've had for going on 70 years) will become public overnight. frickkkkkkkkkkk that.

I did and so did others. I get tired of hearing that this bill failed "because Louisiana has the most corrupt politicians in the country." I contact my legislators the same way anyone else does. It failed because it was a bad bill

This one is worn out too... There are literally thousands of marshland owners that this would directly impact. You think all of them are wealthy just because they own some land?
