How's turkey season in your neck of the woods?

It's been a weird season here in east central Alabama so far. Killed this dude in the first ten minutes of opening day, and now can't seem to get set up on one to save my life.
We're also having a lot more just simply not gobbling more than once or twice in a morning, and then slipping in on you. Some folks are blaming the currently booming coyote population.

My dad hunts a LOT and hasn't heard one gobble yet up here in N. AL. I got to go for the first time last weekend and I didn't hear anything either. Granted, we both hunt on public land, but there's usually turkeys gobbling.

Haven't had an opportunity yet in WNC but, they're everywhere on my property.

That's the thing, we're pretty loaded with birds right now. They're just being more quite than usual for this time of April. My dad's called in two, but decided not to pull the trigger because he's gone soft in his old age I suppose. And there's already a few birds in the freezer.
Also, surprised to hear they're not gobbling at all up in N. AL. They were already going around here well before season opened.

It's different every day. Some days they gobble like idiots, some days you don't see or hear a turkey from daylight until dark. Just have to go every day you can. Clear mornings after a day where it gets 80 degrees and they gobble well. If you wake up and can't see your truck because of the fog they don't gobble worth a damn.

Truth. It got down to 44 at our place this morning, so my hopes weren't too high. Of course, there he was standing right in the damn field when I was driving out. SOB never said a word.

They're quieter than usual here as well. The weather may be playing a factor in that. It snowed last week

I don't care to ever live anywhere that snow during turkey season is a realistic possibility

Henned up tight here. Hunted last 7 mornings in a row except today and they are gobbling 3-4 times on the roost, flying down with hens and not giving a crap about what anything else is doing. Hens are just starting to nest, should get good over the next few weeks.

Sounds about like how it is where I've been hunting a buddy's land in North MS. I've only been able to make it to my place in Boligee, AL for Easter weekend, but I had a lot more action there.

Season opened Wednesday here in OK. Rios are gobbling well. This is my first season here and first time doing any hunting of my own accord. I'll be at it in the morning.
Buddy I'm meeting up with roosted some birds yesterday evening and had some.gobbling that wouldn't commit this morning. Excited to get after it.

I will be making a trip for rios in OK next year. Pretty pumped. Actually making an archery trip up there this October.
They have been fairly quiet and henned up at my place in St Helena. Hopefully they change soon.

Had some close calls the first 2 weekends but couldn't seal the deal. Got this guy Thursday afternoon after seeing him and 2 others that morning. Setup on a logging road that sometimes gets used on their way back to the roost.

Got on this guy early Saturday. Called him in and my padnuh did the dirty. Hunting on public land up in NWOK. Both of our first times and his first turkey. Can't wait to drop one myself, but it was awesome having him come in. He was roosted up about 40 yards behind us and gobbled over a dozen times before flying down and making a bee-line for the decoy. He walked up from behind us at about 5 yards to our right and dropped like a sack of bricks at 15 yards when shot. Didn't realize that he was a REALLY young jake, but we were just excited to kill one. Great hunt.
