I shot banded canvasback drake this weekend. This is my 4th band. How many have yall killed and what were the species? Where were they banded? if you remember.

1. Wood duck hen - Chenyeville (my buddy killed a double banded wood duck hen on the same hunt)
2. Blue-Winged Teal Drake - Krotz Springs
3. Mourning Dove- Colfax
4. Canvasback Drake- Illinois

Cpl of mallards
Redhead - thats cool and not common
teal
mottled duck
Canada geese - been in on 10 or so, sometimes its hard to determine who killed the banded bird
Best story and only one in North America to do it that I know of after talking w/ USFWS and CWS - I shot 3 banded Canadas with consecutive band number xxx-xxxx15, 16 and 17 - now I dont know if I shot them in order ;) but i did shoot them. They were banded about 100 mi from where I shot them.

Three. Snow goose and two mallards. One of the mallards had a botulism transmitter in his back.

Mallard drake banded in Canada. Shot it in Tennessee.

My brother and I shot two wood ducks, both with web tags. They were tagged and shot in the same town in LA.

Mallard Drake Banded in Saskatchewan. I shot him in 2001 and one of the bb's hit the damn band. My other was a Mottled duck drake I shot in 2000 banded near Gilchrist Tx. Hunted every season since and haven't gotten another one. 2 in back to back seasons then none in 20 fricken years.

Back in the 90's hunting on Wallace Lake south of Shreveport I saw another with one with a band on it's leg. A flock flew by us and the sun was shining on it and you could clearly see the band shining. By the time we saw it it was too late to get a shot.

Earlier this year I was on a hunt and a kid shot a drake mallard banded on 9/11/2008. The bird was older then him. It said he was hatched in 2007 or earlier. Crazy that he lived that long and a kid younger then him did him in.
I know a young woman that started hunting this year and she killed two bands this season. Her dad has been duck hunting all over the US and Canada for 40 years and doesn’t have a single one.
I have only shot one. A kid about 7 years old was claiming it so I just congratulated him and let him take it.
