On a standard gas motor, I usually do every 5k or so on my 5.3. Can I go longer?

I use synthetic. My engine oil life monitor goes to 10k miles. The dealership says to change it after 5k. I usually do it at about 7k.

If you're running full synthetic and highway miles, 7-8k is no problem at all. 10k probably wouldn't be an issue either but you're getting to the point where your driving habits come into play.

I burn CNG 95% of the time on full synthetic and get over 15k between oil changes but my situation is a little unique.

I was riding in my buddies silverado the other day and I looked over at his oil sticker and he was 55,000 miles over for an oil change. Dumbest shite I've ever seen. Safe to say you can go a little longer. I use synthetic and change mine about every 8k.

Are you still under warranty?

If under warranty, do not go over their guidelines.

: When the “Change Engine Oil Soon” message appears, oil change service is necessary for the vehicle as soon as possible, within the next 600 miles.

quote:

The motor oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and the Engine Oil Life System will need to be reset.

7-10k for Mobil 1
15-20 for Mobil 1 Annual Protection

Depends on the workload.
Just driving on the interstate, higher end.
Actually using the truck like a truck, lower end.

maybe he had been changing it himself and thus didn't have an updated sticker?

Mobil 1 full synthetic. How long I run it depends on the filter. If it’s an extended life I’ll push till almost 10k. On most regular filters they’re only claimed to be good till 7,500, at least the ones I run so if using those I stay below that.

He was a farmer baw, said he will just get a new one. Hints why you NEVER buy a truck from a farmer

i change it every 10,000 using the motorcraft synthetic in my 2011 6.2 f-150. it has 185,000 miles on it. So far so good I guess.

Before this truck I used to do it every 7,500.
