I think it's a good bit more complex than that. I think it is plotting % load also.

Oil temp is definitely important. Arrhenius equation states the life of oil is cut in half every rise in 18 degrees F. So you can roughly determine it there if you know the actual life of the oil. But that varies and improves every year.

Synthetic, change filter and top off after 6000. Change both at 12000. Been doing it for 20 years

Gm had lots of empirical data on hand when they did their oil life models and really spearheaded what we have today from several manufacturers.
Mileage as an indicator of oil change intervals is such a horrible measure, but for a long time was the only thing practical. Miles if it moves, hours if it doesnt.
Oil analysis has been and always will be the tell-all, but for 4 quarts of oil and a $5 filter twice a year, frick it just change it. We're not talking 300 gallons of oil and $2500 of filters.

Right, I always tell people don’t worry about stretching drain intervals on your personal car. The savings just isn’t there to try and play a game with your engine. Plus and oil sample will cost you 10-20 bucks so that basically eats up any savings you may gain. Extending intervals is meant for high idle time vehicles, high mileage vehicles or when down time cost you money.
I just like this conversation cause I’m an oil nerd.
