Federal investigators are now warning professional athletes across multiple sports following a rise in sophisticated home burglaries thought to be emanating from international criminals.
The warning comes as the NFL, NBA and NHL informed teams in November that organized and skilled groups were targeting the homes of athletes for break-ins, including while the players are away at games.

Well, with floor joists I'll assume this is a raised house you're talking about.
If so, what kind of flooring do you have in the area you want to secure the safe?
If ceramic tile, use a suitable drill bit and drill through the floor in a grout line and make the hole at least big enough so you can send a wire coat hanger deep enough through it to be seen under the house. Then measure from there to the joist faces, add 3/4 inch to that measurement and you will be dead center. Then go upstairs and lay it out in the place you want the safe.
If the hole doesn't help, it is easy to patch with just a dab of grout to seal the hole.
Even easier if a wood plank floor. Drill at a seam and do the above. If not to your liking, a spot of wood putty will conceal the hole.

Carpet
I was thinking I can crawl under with an impact and drive a 6 in lag from the bottom….on either side of the joists tk mark where I would need to drill between to hit the joist.

That's what they make big pieces of cardboard for. Put some down on the ground and scoot on your stomach or back over to where you need to be.
I'm not as tall as you, but I've been in narrower spots over the years. It's no fun, but doable if the need is there.

Shorter they are, the less hard they fall.

Yes, if someone is a professional athlete there seems to be some risk of a break in involving south American criminal rings.
We had a man tell a group of soldiers just few weeks ago that there have been a bunch of women who have had their achilles tendon severed by someone hiding under their cars in parking lots after dark. He was a contracted speaker from a local law enforcement agency. When he was asked how often this happened and where he had nothing because of course it has never happened but there is an amazing number of people convinced not only that it has happened but happens frequently. That being the case the south american gang break ins, which have indeed happened, is a crime wave of unheard of proportions in relative terms....but still a silly thing to worry about in general terms even for pro athletes..

Dude, if you are going through the expense and trouble of buying and installing a safe, spend the $5 and 10 minutes and bolt it to the floor
Well sure. I have mine anchored but I do not have mine because I am afraid someone is going to get my shite I have mine because its the best way to store guns. They are somewhat protected in case of a fire, they are somewhat protected against humidity, and they are in a place where they can't be assessed by kids easily....with the exception of humidity none of those is statistically liable to be an issue. If I thought they were I would do something else.....like move to a less crime ridden neighborhood if I seriously thought someone was liable to break in my house and steal anything.

You could pull base and lift carpet up to find seam in subfloor or nails. Id say 8” pull back max. Retuck your rug or pay a pro his minimum to do it in 6 minutes. This is assuming you can detach and reattach your trim.
I’d try stud finder first. If it sounds in one line and not everywhere, run it 16” away to truth it.

You can take a neodymium magnet, tie it to a piece of string and drag it on
..... over whatever surface, horizontal or vertical. This is also my go to stud finder.

If this were a serious concern I would not bolt anything to the floors or the walls I would move. Why do y'all insist in living in areas where these types of concerns are real? Move. Its cheaper than living in an area where its a legit concern that someone is going to enter your home, tip over your gun safe and attack it with a crowbar. I grew up on the west side of Atlanta in the 70s and 80s when crime actually existed in Atlanta and we did not lock the doors most of the time and in 25 years I had a riding lawn mower stolen out of the front yard of a rental house between tenants. A kid down the street saw it, crunk it up and drove it to his house to cut their grass. I can't imagine living in a neighborhood like many of y'all must live in.
Aren't you the guy saying people carrying firearms are pussies? Now people wanting to properly secure their firearm are somehow in the wrong too? What do you want people to do?

Never tried this on a pier and beam floor, but a thermal will show you wall and ceiling joists very well. Might try that if you have access to one.

If they really want the safe they can and will just cut the flooring out and take the safe with the subflooring.
And then drag it through the crawl space? If they can pull that off, they can have the damn thing
