Bad trip there Sat

Left early from marina and hit heavy shower off the bat.

Had a good report from middle of the week on a platform Wine Island way. By the time we got there, 8 boats already.

Remote on trolling motor not working, likely due to earlier rain getting in it

Lost anchor on a pipe. Cousin got stuck by the only hardhead we caught. I caught 5 gaffs that must have weighed 15 lbs ea.

Finished w 17 in box, I caught 9 of them, one of which was a rarity, 18 inches.

Water was good, but we had enough by noon. I went more to see the island anyway. Not too many trips left to see her.

We landed 45 trout in four bayous Saturday morning. Tossed another 25-30 small trout and ladyfish back.

I fished the middle basin for 2 days because I was told by someone I couldn't catch fish with the water high. I lost that bet. Found some nice water, drains and water was moving. Nothing had the fish related to it. They are still in the woods. I tried a crossover from Grand Lake to the Atchafalaya River, being the water was high and stuck the Rocket. Luckily it is light and floats shallow. Sunday fished the other side just so I could see what a fish feels like. Pictures of the weekend:

Fished the long rocks Saturday until about 11. Ended the day with 15 keepers and a bunch of dinks. I couldn’t establish a pattern to the bite like I normally can. Right as we were about to cal it a day, I landed the biggest drum I’ve ever seen. He was more than half of the back of my boat beam. I kicked his dinosaur looking arse back in the water, but it was a fun fight on light tackle. Still can’t beat a nice day on the water.

Took my 5 year old son and dad fishing in Henderson Friday. Caught 20 nice bream and 2 catfish. Boats everywhere, saw several people catching bream. Talked to a few guys at the landing that caught some bass. We tried to find some sac-a-lait, no luck

Fry them. Very easy to clean and taste like large bream fillets.
